Hi All.. I need some advice.. I am brand new to poling, never done it before but am very excited to start! My hubby wants to buy me a pole, an xpert... but should we get a TG or chrome... 45mm or 50mm. I really don't know which to get.. HELP??? Thanks!!!

i think i would get the 45 mm. i got a 50 and i still think i could dance on a 45 and might be easier to grip. as for the coating, i have heard chrome is very grippy and pull at the skin for some people. by tg you mean titanium? i think that's what i have, im really not sure. sorry not very helpful but i probably would go with the 45
I have the 45 mm chrome and I love it! Sometimes I wish that I had a 50 mm if I ever decide I want to compete because thats the standard size, but I think the 45mm was the best choice for myself since I only pole at home. It's hard to say what finish is better because it really comes down to personal preference. I have very sweaty hands and sometimes have trouble with my grip on chrome. I've heard the TG is "gripper" so if you have sweaty palms that may be the way to go. But like I said before it really just comes down to what your body decides it likes best 😛 I've only tried the 45mm chrome, and I like it overall. Good luck!

I would go with a 50 chorome. 50, even if you dont compete down the line, if you want to go to a pole class, jam ect..Most have 50mm.. Chrome is what i heard best for newbies. Newbies have a death grip until they learn there gripping on the pole. It has enough stickiness for you to stick, but not over do it like you would on a TG.

Well....a lot of competitions use 45's but most bars willk have 50's. So...I say start with 50 unless you have really small hands.
I just ordered an xpert 50mm titanium gold, should arrive tomorrow 9/13. As I've mentioned, I'm excited but also nervous. I have had a stainless steel for two years and now that I'm attempting things that require a good grip, I'm constantly frustrated, even spins I just slide down or almost off! Even though I've been poling for little over two years (at a slow pace), I don't know if I still have death grip, so hope TG won't be too grippy. I do struggle with sweaty hands and various grip aids only help for a trick or two. It is personal preference, however, without having opportunity to try these different finishes first-hand, had to make a decision. I went with 50mm even though I think I have small hands, but that's all I've ever poled on and do attend different one day classes & worshops, so want to be used to it. I probably won't be able to get new pole up till weekend, due to my hubby's and my work schedules. It'll be tough having to wait and see how it works for me 😳
TG poles are generally considered more grippy than the chrome, and sometimes too grippy for new dancers (pole burn, ouchies!). Chrome has a nice grip to it, and is good for spins on static mode, which will be some of the first pole moves you'll learn. I personally have a 50mm chrome and I do like it, but I'd also like to have a TG in the near future. 50mm usually feels more comfortable for beginners, so I've heard, and is fairly standard in studios and the like. (some of this info came from Veena on another thread I read once, lol).

I agree with everyone else and say go with the 50 mm chrome xpert. Happy poling! 🥂

Thanks everyone for the advice.... LOL.. so... I gotta say I took my first class last night and WOW, sooooooo awesome!!! I came home to find out that the hubby decided to get one for me as a late b-day gift... SO, looks like I'm getting a 50 TG xpert. GOTTA LOVE THAT MAN!!! Can't wait to get it, should be coming hopefully today!!! YAY!
