need your opinion...

Hey everyone! So I sorta brought this up in chat last night, but I wanted everyone's opinion... So the closest pole studio to me is about 45 min away in CT (I'm in NY) I LOVED LOVED LOVED my studio and my instructor. I felt like she was just as addicted to pole as we all were and she was super sexy and sensual and was really good at teaching. It was a sensual pole class so we learned a lot of different things: floor work, wall dancing, pole dancing, sexy walk and soooo much more (i could go on forever). The only reason why I stopped taking classes there was A: Money, B: Travel time, and C: the next level was on a night I bartend 🙁.... OK so here is the meat of the story (sorry so long and drawn out)... A new studio opened about 15-20 min away from me, I was so happy! So I called to ask the owner since I had already taken Level 1 somewhere else if i would have to start from scratch there and she asked me to come in and dance for her and an we would go from there. So I did, and she offered me a job. Hooray! right?? not so much... I was super excited everything seemed great, until i went back in the other day for open studio time... when I first went in she had pretty crappy poles, but she said she was getting new "custom" poles put in. So i go back and there they are, super thick, can't fit my man hands around them, coated in some weird stuff, poles. So I asked what they were. She apparently just went to like Home Depot. bought some steel poles and got her friend who paints cars to paint them with pink car paint!! WTF?? She's like "I've been told its sorta the same feeling as brass" they aren't powder coated, its straight up car paint. I tried to dance on these poles and OMG I have never felt pole burn like this in my life, I almost got instant bruises. I have never danced on brass before so idk if they are anything alike, but man these suckers hurt. So i mentioned X-pole to her and she looked like a deer in the headlights, almost no idea what i was talking about. Oh and btw, she told me she has been dancing for about 5 years, but hasn't danced in about 3 years, so she is just getting back into it. Anyway... so she asks me to stay for her level 1 class to watch how she does it... Horrible, she is an awful instructor, terrible dancer, the only thing i saw her do was a front hook, fireman and pinwheel, and not well. Shouldn't someone who has supposedly been dancing for 5 years, and is trying to start a business like this know a little more about pole dancing??? She was really hands off the whole class, while girls were having trouble with moves she just stood there... she couldn't have been more stiff or less sexy. There were no sexy moves or transitions incorporated, no floor work, nada! and this was not like an aerobic pole class, it was supposed to be a "Sensual Pole Princess" class The whole thing was just a huge let down. I want to teach, but I'm not sure if this is the right place, or time for me. I know I have only been dancing for a few months, and I don't want to seem cocky or over confident, but from what I saw her do, i know I could do a better job. I know I'm not great or really experienced, but if all she wants me to do is teach front hooks, firemen and pinwheels, i know i can do that. Grrrr!! it makes me so mad that someone who knows nothing about something I love is trying to start a business doing it!! I'm toying with the idea of just doing it for the experience of teaching a class and try to put a little of my own spice into it, and if it is unbearable, quit. But I'm not sure... I'm meeting with her again today at 5pm (EST) ... just wondering what everyone's thoughts on this were...? Thanks, sorry so loooooong... 🙂
