aww i'm sorry jacq ๐ don't worry, you just started poling didn't you? that grip thing is crazy, i have a lot of work to do ๐ and i don't have any problem slipping, my hands grip so much when i try to spin, its hard! i don't have much in friends either, but it doesn't bother me so much anymore, except when i want to share pole stuff! maybe you could call me up. i was confused, the one girl acquaintance friend i have didn't want to come over tonight when i was playing with my pole. she just wanted to talk she said. i dunno. she's a great dancer and really tiny, she'd be poling in no time. guys are IMPOSSIBLE to have a calm conversation or share vids when it comes to poling, in my experience. sex flags fly up really high and they can't see much else ๐ i got one to help me put up my pole today, but after sharing music/poling/cirque du soleil vids he asked to kiss me ๐ he is really cute, but once they talk about the kissing, i totally freeze. its so funny, i try to tell them how 'cool' the pole dancing looks, and he says, 'i guess you could call it that' or something. all they see is sexy ๐ hugz lis

Awww! Well I'm glad you feel comfortable enough to vent to us here. Everyone has off practices..the last three practices I've had have all been crap and you know my frustrations with the shoulder mount! The chopper is not an easy move, I had the same problem you're having, once I got my legs over my head my abs weren't doing the work to get my butt over my head so I'd have to hook my leg or just let myself fall. Try doing some ab moves (if you want to email me on here I can give you the ab workout I'm doing that's really helping me with some pole moves) because that's what helped me get my butt over my head. But it is hard and it took me a looong time to be able to do it and even longer to be able to hold it...you're catching on to a lot of moves way faster than I did so you'll get there. I'm not married and I don't have kids so I'm afraid I can't be of too much help there...but remember guys are dumb! No matter how nice they are...they're all dumb. Talk to your hubby and tell him why what he did frustrated you and hopefully he will understand. Remember try to use poling as a way to relax even if you just put on music you like and dance around all silly to de-stress yourself...and you always have everyone here to bitch to! Hope today goes better for you. ๐

Hey foxyrei.. i've been poling for about 5 1/2 months, and for the past 2 weeks i was having the worst practices! Even basic moves that were fairly easy for me by my 2nd month seemed really difficult, and i had to really struggle to get into them! Not only that, for some reason i couldn't dance either! i felt like i was a beginner all over again..even my spins were wacky. I was gettin so frustrated that i would just quit mid-way through my practice. And then just when i was beginning to think that i just cant progress anymore, and that i've just been lucky up till now gettin some moves (and that my luck had run out).... bam! i had the best practice ever yesterday!!! It happens to all of us.. to some for just a day, and to others (like me) even for a couple weeks or more. I hope it was just that day for you, but either way, i bet your next 'good' practice will be your best so far! I'm sorry about your husband, the fact that that happened around the same time with your "off day" and the event with your best friend probably caused you to feel more upset about it than you normally would've. But i agree with glitter about just explaining it to him, and that men tend to be more thoughtless in terms of foreseeing what could cause an inconvenience to others sometimes. About your friend, i would've been a bit annoyed too in your situation! I don't know if she has any kids- but if not, i think that people who don't have kids sometimes don't realize the responsibility that comes with it, and that more planning is required! or they just forget (i'm one of those people too). And i don't care if this sounds cheesy, but i really do feel like i've developed some friendships on this site (especially through PMs and emails), even though we've never met in person. So don't feel bad about venting to us! Sorry so long again, this is why i'm trying to cut down on posting a bit, cos i always tend to write so much!! ๐

You have lots of friends right here on SV! I know we aren't there in "perspn" but you can always count on us! and please....we all need to bitch-n-moan every once in a while. It helps us remember that we are not the only ones who have off weeks! I had an off practice tonight actually! I had my whole list of things that I wanted to work on and none of it happened...I couldn't get much grip! grr! But there is always tomorrow! ๐ Keep your head up and smile! ๐

We all have off days. Somedays I can't even do a fireman. ๐ Pretty much everyday I can't invert. But as Veena said to me, it's not all about the inverts. Now for Aunty Rouge's stern lecture... ๐ As to your friend, being a childless one with a lot of friends who have kids, I can relate to her. Most of my friends now are younger than me or have late teens / adult kids. We forget that it's hard for parents to be impetuous and spontaneous. It's not personal, we're just not conditioned that way. Going out for drinks at 10pm is a great idea, but we forget that you need babysitters, sleep, time to get ready. Yes, in a way we're selfish, but that's because we don't have children or parenting experience. Again, it's not personal, we simply don't realise. ๐ค Now the contentious statement, having too many friends who are now "zombie acolytes in the cult of child", there is only so much we non-child people can take on a child's latest development. We'd like an adult conversation, not chat about the kids latest achievement at school / gym / etc, some of that is fine, we know it's important, but the constant droning... I'm sure you've met people like that though at your daughters school, they have no life other than living vicariously through their children. Most of my parent friends are fine to be around, their kids are great, but there is that annoying group that we don't play with any more. So, take it easy on yourself. I'm sure your friend didn't mean to appear mean by giving you an hour to get to the bar, she's in a different world; everyone has off days on the pole; spouses need apart time too and we're not "putting up with you", sheesh, I say enough dumb things here! ๐ So, go take some quality "Foxy" time, which I'm thinking you don't get enough of and stop beating yourself up.

Awww Foxy....I'm sorry you had an off night! Your always welcome to share your pole woes with us. Take it from me EVERYONE has bad pole practice days. If the tricks aren't coming to you that day well don't stress, ( yes I tell you not to stress but it gets my panties in a bunch too! ) you had the right idea when you said maybe you should have just done some stretching. Your body knows when its had too much, and learning to listen to it, and not push can be a hard thing to do. I'm still working on that myself ๐ As for your friend, sounds like Rouge is right! Single people do tend to forget all the preparation that goes into going out for a mom. I'm guessing its just the combination of the bad practice, hubby and friend all getting you down at once. Cheer up! ๐ฅ I think your doing dandy ๐ธ

And Aunty Rouge is sending you e-cuddles. e-chocolate too. It will get better, promise.

I think one of the greatest things about this forum is how you're immediately welcomed into like a huge family, and we're all here to support each other, so don't feel like we're putting up with you, we care about you! *hugs*

Oh Jacq, Im sorry to hear you were going through a tough time. I know friends do drift apart sometimes and its a part of life but it sure is tough! It happened to me a couple of times and it still makes me sad sometimes but I know sometimes there's nothing that can be done. ๐ Maybe when she's back for Summer and you both have more time you can catch up properly. By then you'll be a pole master and you can offer to show her some pole moves! ๐ As for the hubby, talking to him is a good idea. Men sometimes need to be told these things cause they're silly! (Sorry Joel and Jungle Cat! ๐ )

Foxy...I'm sorry to hear that you were having a bad day! Girlfriend, I know exactly how you feel about having bad practice sessions. It really bums me out because I really love pole dancing, and when I have a bad night I obsess about it even in my sleep. You're doing great from what I can tell. I'm still afraid to try to really dance because I don't feel like I know what I'm doing and I don't want to look stupid. So, I keep working on trying to do spins, inverts, floor work, and transitions hoping that one day I'm going to be able to put it all together. So, remember...you're doing great; you're progressing; you're doing something you love; and with enough practice, even bad practice sessions, you're going to blow your hubby's socks off soon and very soon! ๐คธ ๐ As for your friend, I agree with Rouge. She probably doesn't even realize what happened. I'm sure she didn't mean any harm. Now on to hubby...men just don't think sometimes. I'm sure he didn't even think about what he was doing and was only trying to make his little lady happy. Hang in there OK. We're here for you and believe me when I say we want to hear from you when you're happy, sad, or don't even know what you're feeling. We wouldn't have it any other way! ๐

Oh boy, I'll probably get in big trouble for this post, LOL--but I'm sure it will reveal a key difference in how guys react to things versus the way the ladies do! ...Because the first thing that popped into my mind when you talked about your husband pulling the batteries out of the phone was that you should do the same thing to his television remote! OK, I know...that's not nice...but a little retaliation is fun sometimes, LOL! ::Joel blushes in embarrassment as he reveals he sometimes acts like a child:: Joel
