Need Some 60s Song Suggestions

Hey all We're doing a "Summer of Love" at Poletential and I am teaching two 3-week choreographed dances to songs. I'm trying to stay within the theme and want to pick music from that era. For the first one I'm doing I Put A Spell on You by Creedence. I just can't decide for the second song! I've thought of: Black Magic Woman, Santana Nights in White Satin, Moody Blues Come Together, Joe Cocker remake (I hate the Beatles, sue me...) Also thought of others from the 70s. I'd love something Floyd but it's all so damn depressing! Any ideas for me???? Thanks in advance!! 🫡

50's through 70's is right up my alley! led zeppelin has some interesting stuff from the 60s and 70s... depends on what sort of 'feel' you are going for... some of the zeppelin stuff would be great for slinky /sexy /sensuous.... 🙂

Don't know if this is the right era, but a few songs came to mind. Pulling this from my memory bank from 10 years ago, so not sure on artists/song titles either. Leave Your Hat On - Joe Cocker Those Shoes - Eagles Red House - Hendrix House of the Rising Sun - Animals She's So Heavy- Beatles Just pulling the instrumental beginning portion of Floyd's Time would be so bada$$ - I've always had that one in the back of my head of one I want to conquer once I have the skills in place. Sounds like it is going to be a fun class 😀

go to pandora.com & type in "60's" or your favorite artist from that time, random stuff from that time should come up & it will most likely be stuff you wouldn't have thought of on your own, but i'll bet you will like a lot of it 😉 i have a aerosmith channel, jimi hendrix channel & a journey channel on my pandora && those are my favorite ones to use when i pole! mostly its stuff i would have never even thought of (& some stuff i have never heard) but it great!!

from my "soul, sass, and blues" playlist (a little less tie-dyed than the songs you listed but in the same era and these SCREAM sultry summer to me): back door man- howlin wolf cigarettes and coffee- otis redding whole lotta love- tina turner the sky is crying- stevie ray vaughn summertime- leslie west cry to me- solomon burke since i've been lovin you- led zeppelin red house- jimi hendrix 😈 😂 😀

There's a lot of 70s suggestions up...if you want something truly psychadelic 60s listen to The Mamas and the Papas - Wild Women. Or California dreaming. Or like....anything by them. Haha

I decided on I Put a Spell on You by CCR for the first one. For the second, even though it's from 1964, Fleur convinced me to use Oh Pretty Woman by Roy Orbison. I think it will be fun, although it's way faster than I usually dance. A challenge for me to be sure! Thanks for asking!! 😀

If you like Pink Floyd, 'Money' has a hot beat and I think it would be a great pole song, even though it's from the 70's. You could time some really cool moves to all the ching-chang's and jingles 😉 Good luck! You should post a clip of how it goes 👍

OK, the first dance is done. I just posted a video. This dance was taught over 3 weeks to mostly brand new polers, so it's fairly simple. It's a terrible performance, I had danced it a quadbillion times as each student danced one by one and was filmed (I was off camera for each of theirs.) I was tired, stiff, blah blah snore.... But I promised, so there you go! Thanks again everyone for all your ideas!!

Love Potion #9 was a R&R hit in the 60's, but Sally Kellerman (of TV Mash fame) made a slow, steamy "torch song" version". Black Velvet ... don't know if it's 60's, but it's about Elvis!
