Navel piercing & pole?

Hi guys, My new x pole is coming in the mail tomorrow! I am currently taking pole classes, and now that I will have a pole at home I will be able to practice more. I want to get a bellybutton piercing, but I am not sure how I will do with pole. Will this piercing manageable with doing pole almost every day or will it hit and snag? Again I am just beginning. Any feedback would be great. Thank you.

Hello! I am new to pole too and I have a belly piercing. I don't take it off during my practice (proud owner of my first pole 2 months ago hah!) don't have any problems with it so far but I'm a newbie so my routine is not that aggressive. Interesting thread, I've always had this question but never really asked. It may give minuscule sratch on the pole but I havent really experience it.

When I was just beginning, i did not need to take it out. But now that I do alot of inverts and more agressive dance/tricks - I take it out. But if you have just gotten it done,you should not take it out alot the first year, so I'd put a bandage or something to cover it.

I have had my belly ring for years and it has a dangle component and have never had a problem with it and i am rather agressive with my moves.. inverts etc.

I am an advanced level dancer and I've never had a problem, the only thing I won't do is a no-hands cradle because I can feel it on the pole and it doesn't feel so nice lol. Some people complain about theirs hitting the pole or snagging though, so I think it just depends on you. I had mine done for years before pole and I wear a plain barbell, no danglies. At the beginner level, it probably isn't much of a concern, but if you are planning on getting it pierced, keep in mind that navel piercings take a LONG time to heal and give lots of people problems (in general, not on the pole). If you do get it pierced, be very, very cautious and aware when you're on the pole.

The only issue I have had with my piercing is when doing the cradle spin, one of the balls at the end of the piercing sometimes comes undone. My navel ring is kind of in the shape of a corkscrew and its the top ball that comes off, but no problems other than that.

I broke a navel piercing once doing the craddle. but I put another one on the same spot and kept it. it did'nt happen again.

I've had mine for a few years so it's completely healed and I've never had a problem with it. I'd be cautious though about getting a brand new one. Bellybutton piercings are hard enough to heal on their own as they're at your body's main "hinge", but add dancing to the mix and it can really aggravate it. This could make it take longer to heal, or cause your body to reject the piercing and push it out.

I had quite a few piercings when I started pole, navel was one of them (have taken it out since my pregnancies). I was an advanced dancer and did this as work for several years, never had any issues but kept to a plain barbell. Have you any other piercings? If so, how well did you heal? I tend to take a little longer to heal from piercings and I can't wear all types of metal, which is part of the reason I haven't had it re-done.

I would advise to find a reputable piercer and speak to them about it. They would be able to give you the best advice.
