Omg!! I'm so excited about this! I've been wanting to try the lyra/aerial hoop for so long! It looks like the pole knowledge will transfer over fairly easily but I'm a little anxious that when I finally get on it I won't know what to do! Haha. If anyone can reccomend a few good Lyra tutorials on YouTube that would be amazing!! <3 voodoochild

ohhhh I am super jealous 😁 good for you - you will have a BLAST...I just got an aerial yoga hammock and aerial silks for my house...and I was seriously thinking about a lyra as well but I barely have enough time for the other stuff LOL
Voodoochild, Ooooh. Let us know how it goes! Sapphirecatzeye, Great vids! I start my first mixed apparatus aerial classes on Monday!! Eeeek. verucablue, aerial silks for the house?! Do you have massively high ceilings? How are you anchoring them? I would die to have my own aerials rigs.
haha...I wish my ceilings were high... no they are only 12 ft high so I am doing what I can with the aerial yoga this is where I ordered my fabric from http://www.aerialfabric.com/fabric.html I got Turquoise - it's a bit darker than their photo and much bolder, the pic doesn't do the colour justice - I am in love! (we haven't even bothered with the silks yet...the ceilings are not so high so its more about perfecting certain moves and wraps then anything with height) The aerial hammock hangs from two points bolted into our load bearing beam, the basic set up is this: two carabiners are attached to the ceiling mount hooks. Heavy duty daisy chains hang from the carabiners. Each end of the fabric is wraped around a Rescue-8, then the Rescue 8 is attached to a carabiner, the carabiner attached to a swivel the swivel attached to another carabiner which is in turn cliped on to the daisy chain...does that make senses 🙂 lol ??? This web site has the basic pic of my rigging - the center pic http://community.simplycircus.com/pdf/aerial_fabrics_faq_v1.pdf my rigging is just from two points vs one...also I am using a daisy chain not a span set.

This is one of my favorite hoop videos (well, there's a bit of pole, too)--Jenyne Butterfly is apparently without limits on her talent. Argh! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dLf9wjjLHIc I would LOVE to learn aerial hoop! Somehow methinks the bruising would be even worse....but utterly worth it.

i've been doing sillks for a little while and i've found that silks and aerial acro (lyra, static trap, rope, etc) are MASSIVELY more difficult and much, much more forearm intensive. you will be amazed at how much easier pole is after! =)
