My permanent ceiling mount came down

I decided to take my pole down tonight and when I took it down the mount came with it, I guess for who knows how long now the mount has been held up there by the pressure of the pole, I have to keep it down until hubby can figure out a new location again. It was in a stud so I don't understand how this happened.... I really wish xpole would have thought about how four out of six screw holes in the mount are useless I really want that added security of those four holes especially now. Glad the pole remained completely stable all of this time!

Wow! Consider yourself lucky...makes me wanna check our mounts at the studio. Although, our poles are up and down a lot so we would have noticed this I guess. Glad your safe..maybe put in those additional screw regardless for the added safety. Hope your back poling soon :)

Ummmm....if there are 6 holes, you need 6 screws. Who told you otherwise? Their vaulted mount description: For vaulted or slanted ceilings only! Vaulted mount is permanent and needs to be drilled into a stud/beam. Screws are not included so need to purchase 6 screws that work for the surface it is being mounted to. Mount replaces the ceiling dome. Pole can be disassembled as needed. Only the mount remains permanently attached to the ceiling. Their flat mount instructions: For Flat Ceilings Only! Screws not included Will work for the both the 45mm & 50mm diameter pole and is only available in silver. Block mount is permanent and needs to be drilled into a stud/beam. Screws are not included so need to purchase 4 screws that work for the surface it is being mounted to. Mount replaces the ceiling dome. Pole can be disassembled as needed. Only the mount remains permanently attached to the ceiling.

But I do not see anywhere where XPole told you to only use 2 screws? If I had to use only 2 I would have purchased what may be an ugly screw but was no shorter than 3", maybe even 4". I also would have done what one otehr user sugegsted in going up into the ceiling and putting braces up there.

ill post a pic of what my boyfriend did to make it very solid, because he tough the mount was too large for the beam , it "distribute" the weight its very solid now

I don't have a mount, but i talked to xpole about it when I was considering buying one. They said to take a square piece of ply wood (loike 1" thick) and screw it into the stud in two places. Screw the ceiling mount into the joint through the block of wood. It should add some security.

Thanks for the help! :) I will let hubby read this so he will know what to do. Chemgoddess Xpole did not tell me, hubby figured out that only the two middle screws would go into the beam so I did a google search which led me to the Studioveena thread I posted and saw that it was a problem for others as well, so we just did what another poster did and kept the two middle screws in and it was fine for a long time so I did not think about it until it came down. Ahhhh....from the way I read it it seemed as though XPole told you that the additional screws were not necessary. That was my misunderstanding. If you think about it, you are exerting force in all directions on any given mount. At the very least I would say that you need a box around the pole, or the 4 diagonals covered.

I see you've figured it out....I have 2 of the mounts and yes, we use 4 screws, and haven't had any issues, even when I had my poles at 14 and 12 feet. When you put it up again with the right amount of screws it should be fine. 🌸
