My head looks like it will explode when inverted, anyone else?

If I'm upside down for anything more than a few seconds my face turns bright red and it looks like my head is going to explode or I'm having a stroke. Needless to say, it's not very pretty or graceful looking since I appear near death. Does this happen to anyone else and is there something I can do about it? Does it have something to do with my age (45) or fitness level?

during certain inverted moves my face turns red and my lips literally turn purplish/blue. it doesn't happen during legs hangs but will happen if I try to brass monkey, laybacks, or even handstands. its very hideous. even when I stand up my lips are blue for a little while.

when a move get easier for me and I get stronger I think it is not as bad. it happens when I am really straining to get a move. it's like all the tension moves to my face. when I am able to relax in a pose and breathe closer to my normal breathing pattern it is a little better too

I get this! Are you remembering to BREATHE? If I hold my breath I look like I am about to expire...

When I first started inverting I had this problem. It gets better. I used to hang in a crucifix and just use my hands to spin myself to get used to being upside down and breathing. But we all come to that point where there is just to much blood and we have to stop.

Yep breath, breath, breath. You may still be a bit red faced but it will help you a lot.
