My Grip Alternative

I know we are not supposed to wear greasy lotions when polling but I always have dry skin so I have to wear lotion. But I think I found an alternative.. Aveeno Active Naturals Skin Relief Moisturizing Lotion with Soothing Oatmeal Essence, Fragrance free http://www.amazon.com/Aveeno-Naturals-Moisturizing-Soothing-18-Ounce/dp/B001E96LCM/ref=sr_1_2?s=gateway&ie=UTF8&qid=1285018146&sr=8-2 I haven't tried the other Aveeno lotions but I noticed when I am wearing this particular lotion, it acts like MIGHTY GRIP on my skin. I find my skin is not greasy nor slippery. I just find I have better grip all over while wearing this lotion. Sometimes I use this lotion instead of MightyGrip. I never see the Aveeno lotion on my pole. It stays pretty clean. So now I can stay moisturized and still have grip. 🙂 Just thought I'd share my tip. 👍

I'm wondering how the lotion is for spins practice. I just put up my new xpert titanium gold and have used it couple of times. OMG, I'm all beat up, it hurts!!! I went from complaining about my stainless steel being too slippery to TG being TOO grippy. I'm not that good at poling and wonder if I'm not ready for TG. I'm going to keep trying it for a bit longer and see, then put my ss back up and play with it again. I think maybe I should have gotten the xpert chrome. hmm, maybe will post a 3 week old TG pole for sale 🤔 By the way, what kind of pole do you use.

You can still wear lotion....its just not wise to apply right before pole dancing and some tend to be more greasy then others. I am a dry person and have to put lotion on a few hrs before I pole or I wont grip as well. 🤓 So your find is a good one Mrsnaughtywed 🥂 Hooked....this is why I don't recommend the TG for beginners or those who like to do static spins. Its hard on the hands. However you will get use to it, but wow I have some major callouses happening from my TG. 😂 If your a death gripper the TG will take some time to get use to. So about the lotion for the TG: never apply anything that will make your hands slick before you pole ever! 🌈

I mainly use it in spinning. I just love spinning better than static. I find my pole wayyy too slippery. When I used to take lessons at Aradia fitness, they had brass poles and I liked them more. Allure fitness also had brass and I liked them better than mine. I guess we are all different but if I ever get a new pole, I'm going brass. But.. I know what you mean about brass being too grippy. I found that when I didn't wear lotion while at lessons with brass poles, I found them a bit too grippy.. so I always wore greasy lotion while taking lessons with brass poles. I guess you just gotta find what works better for you. 🙂

Hooked....this is why I don't recommend the TG for beginners or those who like to do static spins. Its hard on the hands. However you will get use to it, but wow I have some major callouses happening from my TG. 😂 If your a death gripper the TG will take some time to get use to. 🌈 It's not only very grippy and painful for spins. No matter what I do is very difficult, hurts, and not fun at all. Just a couple of practices and I'm actually banged, bruised, scraped, etc. I look like I got beat up! I dont know, I might regret getting the TG 🙁 Even though I'm not advanced, I miss being able to play with spins, but I wasn't able to much with the ss either.

Sorry to hear about your pole! Probably you'll need some time to get used to it? ❓ I have chrome. The first time I started learning (especially spins), ouch my hand(s) had calluses & nearly ripped my skin off, too! Obviously, I had the beginner's death grip. I love chrome, I found that it can be really grippy if I keep the pole real clean, too. I have the 45mm Stainless Steel Xpole. Btw, didn't know there's stainless steel Xpole? I should think it's chrome....

stardust, Lil Mynx is stainless steel, which is my first pole since 2 years. I hate to be whiny about my TG, it's just so different. I'll give it more time, maybe I expected too much. I was going to sell my lil mynx, but think I will hang on to it. Maybe I'll be a poler who has two poles, haha However, after using TG and then putting my ss back up to practice on it again, I need to decide keeping the TG if I don't feel I'll be using it as much. Time will tell 😨

If anyone in ireland has a TG they want rid of i'll happily take it!!! 😀 me and my wee chrome just don't get along that well at all 🙁

I have a chrome X Pole and I just bought an Aradia brass pole. I much prefer the chrome for static spins, but I love, love, love the brass for climbs and holds. I CAN do everything on both, I just use the chrome if I'm doing an all-spin practice and the brass if I'm working on climbs and holds. It just depends, but I REALLLLY like having both kinds!

It really depends on your skin type but I find that I can grip great with curel lotion as well. I also made an AMAZING grip aid and pole cleaner that I sell on my website if anyone is interested in having a super duper spidermonkey grip! http://aerialempowerment.com/store.html I originally created this spray for use on silks but I got the notion to try it on the pole one day and it works wonders. Doesn't matter if you have sweaty hands, or dry hands, whatever your skin type this spray WORKS to aid gripping the pole better than you ever have before. Ships anywhere in the USA

I agree! I was always afraid of lotion because other girls slathering it on always made me slide off the pole (and really mad). Then I noticed that in the winter, putting on self-tanner and letting it dry before going on the pole seemed to make me stick better. It's moisturizing, has vitamin E (like a lotion) but is a little tacky. Sometimes at home I use lotion though, right after the shower. Thanks for the reminder, I've been sliding off my home pole like crazy, I should try this!

There is another moisturizer that works as a grip aid. It's called http://www.dewpointpole.com. It comes in a spray form and is available in three levels of grip. I experienced the same thing and hate being extremely ashy when I pole, especially if I'm going to class vs being at home.

Pole Physics, moisturiser formulated specifically for pole dancers: http://www.polephysics.com/ They say to leave 7 or more hours between moisturising and poling, but I do it maybe 20 minutes before (even leaving it on my hands). I don't have excessively dry skin and have had many grip issues in the past with products and sweating and I have no problems at all now 🙂 I train on 38 and 50mm brass, 45mm stainless and 45 and 50m chrome. Finally I can moisturise whenever I want and not have my poling affected!

Just want to chime in here and see what you ladies think of the new Pole Physics body lotion for Pole Dancers. From what i read it is awesome for your skin and made for polers. It just got released in the US, and it is available at Bad Kitty, but I would love to know what you guys think of it.
