Molded Tin Ceilings and X-pole? It this possible? (with image)

Hello all, I'm not sure if any of you have this issue, or if you may at least have some advice for me. But my ceilings are a molded tin, pretty elaborate and look similar to the below image. I'm currently using my pole in another space, but I would love to be able to dance in this area as it has much more space and privacy. I was just a little nervous to mount it under that ceiling. I'm not so much worried about damaging the ceiling as I am about the stability of the pole. The house is a fairly old victorian style house and has a few damaged spots to the ceiling already. If it was possible, how on earth would I be able to find a joist?? haha I literally have no clue, a stud finder doesn't work through the tin and the raised areas. This is probably a good question for x pole. I can say that I did have my x pole slip on me with my fairly smooth ceilings. There is only a ring on the dome that grips the ceiling. My ps pole does not slip. The ceiling plate is completely covered in the grippy stuff and it has nubbins to help it grip even more. Are you opposed to putting a ceiling mount up there that you drill in??? That would prevent slipping for the x pole ( or lilmynx or ps pole if you got those instead.) I'd call both x pole and ps and see what their opinions are on using the friction method on metal.

I agree completely. I just didn't want to have to buy another pole just to be able to dance in that room, it wouldn't really be worth it for me since I'm living off a student loan haha. I sent an email to x-pole a few days ago, but I haven't receieved a reply yet, but hopefully they'll respond soon and I'll know for sure. I wanted to ask the studioveena community, just in case someone had some input on the matter. I might go for the drilling mount though, thanks for that suggestion, it didn't even cross my mind haha. :) --bungie

I love the ceiling!!!! just beautiful. But can understand why you might be nervous about putting a pressure mounted pole with a dome on them. Not sure if they would damage them or not. I agree with SensualScimitar you might want to call x pole. I know I wouldn't want to put a screw in mount into those ceilings to hard to repair it later.

It would depend on the type of tin ceiling that you have. It can either be similar to a drop ceiling where you have panels that fit into a grid or they can be nailed on. Either way I would never put a pressure mounted pole on it. Any of them will probably dent the tin.
