Miss USA drama

The girl who was crowned Miss USA this weekend just had some "seedy" pictures pop up of her "grinding" on a pole back in 2007. I personally see no grinding in the photos and dont think theres anything seedy about pole dancing but thats just me lol. But yea, she did a pole dancing workshop and competed in a stripper 101 competition, then years later she wins miss usa and people are becoming concerned...at least the people talking about it havent been too negative, except the blonde lady in the first video. the whole 'she should have known she was worth more and could do stuff with her life and not pole danced' kinda gets to me 😂 as a side note, in the main picture it looks like Shadow is there, right side of the pic with her knee on the stage.

wow that is crazy! I am from Detroit, and I remember this event being advertised on the radio!In fact, our very own members, Charley and Bertysbooboo attended the "Stripper 101" class. I didn't end up going, because i think I would have had to get up to early for my likes, lol. That is Shadow in the picture.. she works at that club and was teaching the girls pole tricks. That would be really sad if they took away her crown because of this. It really wasn't a big deal or anything. How silly.

i really dont think they can legitimately take away her crown for this considering they have these girls parade around in swimsuits and do the risque photo shoots with them and everything. i think thats the main issue right now is people arent sure how to react cause really, they are just pics of her in shorts and a tshirt pole dancing, whereas the miss usa photos that were taken were far more tantalizing. iunno, i hope they dont do anything to her cause she didnt do anything wrong

My husband was flipping channels last night while I was half asleep. He clicked on TMZ and there was the story about Miss USA posing on the pole. It was such a quick shot but I swear that Charley was in the lower right hand corner of the picture!

In this day and age, it's hard to find someone who hasn't done something "racy" according to our society. Seriously, a woman can just walk down the street in jeans and a t-shirt and be considered sexy. In fact, she had on a far less scandalous outfit in the Pole Dance Comp than she did in the Miss USA photo shoot put on by the Miss USA competition. There are so many crazy taboos and restrictions put on things in the USA that people automatically jump to the worst conclusions without doing any research. It seems that there will always be someone out there pointing a finger to blame and trying to take away another person's success; and it's usually due to jealousy or being afraid of something that is different or unconventional. As an America, this type of behavior makes me embarrassed. We are supposed to be the most tolerant nation in the world and yet we judge folks in a very harsh manner. If you want a Miss USA without any baggage that's considered "too sexy" then the company needs to look for virgins that are fully covered.

I just watched a video today of Rima Fakih talking about the incident, and she made it clear that it was not a "stripper" pole contest and it was about bringing women together and teaching them how to dance and be sexy and feel confident. She also stated, "I didn't do anything wrong." I think it's great that she defended herself by bringing forth the empowerment aspect that pole dancing is about, and by asserting that she did nothing wrong instead of cowering and apologizing for some "horrible mistake" in her past like I'm sure some people would have wanted her to do. 😜

I have been living under a rock...I can't believe I missed this post!! Thank you so much for posting this. I just watched the interview and I think she did a nice job. I'm glad she said "I didn't do anything wrong!! " Nothing wrong with pole dance even if its a bit sexy 👍 ☀️

I am glad she said she didn't do anything wrong and was unapologetic. The Stripper 101 class is touted as "learn to dance like a stripper" but once you get there, they do talk about whata workout it is. Everyone is told to wear work out gear like Rima was wearing the picture and its just a fun time. Stripping isn't taught but pole tricks are...some even inverting - so I have issues with the cirriculoum 😂 It's a really good experience for women, especially those who might not know a lot about exotic dancing/dancers and pole work. The dancers are really nice and helpful, they encourage the girls and make them feel as sexy as strippers 😀 It's an opportunity for women to visit a strip club without the presence of men and to see the dancers as other women and teachers rather than the sterotypes. I had a great time and learned Shadows signature spin...I even blogged about it here. Bertysbooboo and I were offered jobs too, several times! But we did look more like we worked there than like we were attending! 😂 😂 😂 Having spent 5 years in radio - you want to play things up like Stripper 101 and make them sound dirty, that's how you get interest and generate "theater of the mind" as an old teacher once told me. Having spent 3 years pole dancing I can say that I thought outside of teaching newbies to invert on spinny poles, the event was tasteful and empowering and everyone stayed clothed.

lol yea i noticed the peekaboo pole too, but considering the polers she was around in the comp, im sure someone let her know it was for posing only.

I have even more respect for Rima Fakih after reading this Associated Press article. "I've learned to be so proud of who I am to the point where I fear no question," she said. "I have no problem because I know who I am and I feel like it's for the world to either accept it and if not, that's fine." Very well put and here's another about the pole dancing photos: She said she's had a lot of local support from people who knew the pole-dancing photos were merely part of "a silly morning show" event "for just women." It was meant to be about exercise, she said, not eroticism. What she and her supporters didn't understand was why the station — and a friend who took those pictures — would send them out "for the world to see." "I'm not going to deny the pictures — they're really (at a) bad angle and they're ugly," she said. "However, they're not what they're trying to make it out to be." Good for her for standing up for herself. Dear god could mainstream America lighten up a bit and oh I don't know stop bein so prude! She looked perfectly fine and all I see is a bunch of women around and her in workout gear lookin like she's havin fun...so what. I never watch the Miss USA comp but I gotta say I'm happy she one, it's not like other Miss USA winners haven't been caught doin something naughty (actually naughty).

I don't understand why that would make her less competent to be miss usa. She said all her world peace stuff.
