I had to jump on this band wagon!! I was absolutely appalled when I read what happened!! My GF had a few words as well because her little 4 year old grand daughter pretends to be MS. GREEN M&M thinking it's okay to act like that....at FOUR YEARS OLD! but when she sees me pole she asks if she can exercise too! lol Any who, myself along with several professional women in the community have sent e-mails as well!! They messed with the WRONG FOLKS!! Nice job everyone!
I cannot believe that M&M's would not fill Chris's order. 😠 That is just rediculous! I sent an email expressing my disgust in their discission not to fill the order. I will NEVER buy M&M's again!! This is BS! The Mars company are a bunch of hyprocrits!

OMG! I watched the stripping M&M and wow! My jaw dropped.. 😮
Great links! Let's all put them on our Facebook pages! Webmaster, you're such a sweetie for thinking of that ... now ask M&M if they can put little zipper graphics on the M&Ms, just like in the commercials? 😉

I know I haven't been very active on here in quite a while (I do check in and snoop around 😀 ) but I love what Veena has done for the pole community and felt I had to give them a piece of my mind as well!
WOW! I am writing to them right now.
Hmm....maybe I should send them a photo of some inappropriate body part and see if they print it...I feel like they would since at least it's not a "stripper pole". I'll write them an angry email...and my boyfriend will definitely tell all of his clients about it and they will write letters too. I always felt gross after eating too many M&M's anyway! hmmmph! Too bad they passed up the opportunity to advertise a photo of a pole instructor with THOUSANDS of students who will most likely not buy their products again...when veena is famous and has an endorsement with snickers i bet they will feel pretty stupid 😀
Ditto to everyone's comments and a piece of my mind will be going via email right now! Love you veena! and what a hubby you have 🙂

My Letter To Whom it May Concern: I am writing this email in regards to the order placed on August 25, 2010 by a Mr. Christopher Brand (reference order number 0010544613). I'd like to take this time to speak up about the growing pole fitness community here in the United States. Pole Fitness is a growing athletic sport that requires strength and agility. The use of a pole is the exercise equipment of choice. Many men and women practice this exercise daily as their work out regimen- just as someone who goes to the gym, those participating in pole fitness can do so at a pole dance studio or the comforts of their own home. The image of "pole dancing" is currently evolving from the typical stereotype of the sex industry involving strippers to a sport currently being considered for the Olympics. Mr. Christopher Brand and his wife are considered pioneers of the evolving sport in the United States. They own an international company with thousands of participants in the pole dancing community. It is a great disappointment to everyone involved in the community to hear about the incident that occurred when Mr. Christopher Brand attempted to place an order with their trademark company image. The image in question is in fact his wife in silhouette form performing one of her infamous pole moves. I have in the past been a customer of personalized M&M's. I had a wonderful experience and had planned to use personalized M&Ms again in the future. I strongly encourage M&M's company to reconsider Mr. Christopher Brand's order request as well as similar future requests. I understand M&M's feels that the image in question was inappropriate, however I would have to disagree and find the advertisements with a certain green M&M portraying a provocative stripper to be more offensive than Mr. Brand's image request. I hope you will further educate your company team members on the sport of pole fitness in the United States. (http://uspoledance.com/USPDF_USPoleDanceFederation.php) Thank you so much for your time and consideration of my letter.

I bet they do silhouette penis shaped candies for bachelorette parties all the time! I couldnt believe they said that after watching the green m&m do a strip tease!
I tried to submit an image on an M&M last night but maybe I was too tired as I couldn't get to the part where after you proof your M&M you actually order it? I'm going to try again today and I'm going to write too. That's just plain ridiculous that they won't approve it for you. I don't understand...why is their excuse about not wanting children to see the image when you are an adult ordering this? It's not like you're submitting a concept for a new M&M to market to the public! Did I miss something here?
Done too!!! and you can be sure i won't buy M&M EVER!!!!!!!
Here's Mine.... To Whom It May Concern, I am writing on behalf of Mr. Christopher Brand's order #0010544613 in an effort to appeal to you to approve this order. Mr. Brand has attempted to order customized M&Ms for his wife who is a fitness pole instructor who is well known around the country and in many parts of the world. Apparently his order was denied as inappropriate referencing it as a stripper pole as well as that it was inappropriate for children to see. Pole dancing itself is now a recognized and respected means of fitness and dance among men and women around the world. There are dance poles in health clubs, fitness centers and thousands of homes around the world - homes which have children in them as well. There is nothing inappropriate about a fitness/dance pole being seen by children and nothing offensive to adults unless it is being "used" in an offensive manner. There was no nudity on the image Mr Brand submitted. Not only is this poor judgement on your part to deny this image but it's extremely hypocritical to deny when Mar's itself has in the past used highly suggestive commercials in the "green M&M campaign" in an effort to market M&Ms! The pole dance and fitness community is a very large one. This decision to deny his order can have a major impact on your image and services. I hope you will reconsider approving Mr. Brand's order and allowing the image of his wife on a pole. Thank you! Mary Ellyn Weissman http://www.ETEDance.com 815-341-6607 True empowerment comes from within us. It cannot be taken away nor given by another. It is a gift that we give ourselves, only when we are ready to admit that we deserve it.
I can't believe this! I'm absolutely speechless. I think it's extremely inappropriate of M&M s to judge and jump to conclusions. What hypocrites.
that's insane! here's my message i sent: To Whom it May Concern: My name is Jillian Olsen, and I am an avid pole fitness athlete and instructor. I would like to reference order number 0010544613 for Christopher Brand. I'm astonished at the treatment of this order, or the treatment of Christopher Brand through customer service over the phone. I do not appreciate that the apparatus pictured in the silhouette was repeatedly referred to as a 'stripper pole', despite ongoing correction. To many in our SPORT, this is called a 'dance pole', and when corrected, it is respectful that the correction be taken note of. The woman that was to receive these custom ordered M&M's is a fellow pole fitness instructor and professional athlete. Pole dance is her full-time job and passion. There are thousands of women AND men in the world that share the very same passion for this dance form. The image in question is a silhouette of a very advanced move that takes great skill, agility, balance, and strength to accomplish. To demean this image by calling it unsightly for children or too provocative to be printed is an insult, not only to her, but to the pole fitness community. If this was a gymnast doing the same move on uneven parallel bars I find it hard to believe you would have deemed it equally "provocative." I'm also gobsmacked because I seem to recall an advertisement for your green M&M candy where she is actually preforming on stage with a pole and "STRIPPING" her green candy coat...if it's slipping your mind please, watch your own commercial here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QKnCLHX6X4k and refresh your memory. WOW! WHAT HYPOCRITES! So THAT was okay for children to see but a tiny silhouette for a private order is an outrage? I, for one, am horribly disappointed in your company. Perhaps, before you make assumptions, you should do some research in order to make a truly informed decision. This is a beautiful image of an athlete that you should be proud to print on your candies, especially for a professional athlete's birthday gift. You should be ashamed of yourselves. I will not be using your service in the future, nor will I recommend your company to others. take that M&M! hahaha
This is why I love all you guys! Everyone is so supportive on this site. Do NOT f*ck with the pole dance community or you will be sorry 🦇 Lmao!!! haha damn straight girl! DONT F*UCK WITH US!

What a thoughtful gift Chris! They are going to get a peice of my mind too. I'm appalled at the green stripping m&m but they can't put a pole athlete on an m&m? Really?
Wow I can't believe that commercial!!!! So it's okay for them to make the green M&M strip around a pole, but its not ok to print a very classy, challenging and completely appropriate image that has a pole in it???? Wow. Speechless. I just know that I'm never eating M&Ms again. Hypocrites.
moth ·
Aww, I would have been chuffed to bits to get a gift like that! I can't believe their nerve, especially after that advertising campaign 😲 I'm emailing them to express my disappointment too. I hope you at least get an apology!

To whom it may concern, I am sorely disappointed in Mars decision not to print personalized m&m's for Christopher Brand. Not only has the Mars Corporation promoted their green m&m's with questionable commercials that perhaps are not suitable for young veiwers but the Mars Corp. has alienated a group of men and women who could have brought you a lot of business. The silhouetted image you decided would not be suitable for your candies is an image of a women doing a beautiful, difficult advanced trick on a fitness pole. Please note I did not say "stripper pole." The lack of consideration shown to us as a community reflects poorly on your company. As Christopher tried to explain, we are not strippers, our images do not contain nudity and we will not be using your products in our studios or homes. Why is it okay to produce a commercial with a green candy walking up to a pole and stripping off her green coating but an image of an athlete on an apparatus is unsuitable? If the said image were of a woman on a trapeze would you have questioned it? If it were just a silhouetted image of a woman would have denied the image? Why does the dance pole suddenly make what looks to be a gymnastic move inappropriate? The woman who's image you denied is a professional trainer and has the most highly visited pole fitness website in the USA and likely worldwide. Her lessons are taken internationally by athletes. Several members of her website are like myself, competitive pole dancers, who do not wish to have our apparatus called a "stripper pole." She is highly revered in pole community and continues to influence the industry. This is an outrage to our community. I do hope you will re-evaluate the situation and decide to print the candies. Afterall, they were a birthday present from a man who loves and cherishes his wife. Furthermore, failure to print these candies shows a community of athletes that our business is not important to your company and that the Mars Corporation finds the sport of pole fitness distasteful. I sincerely hope this story will have a happy ending. -- "Charley" PoleFIT Revolution Marketing Director/Studio Manager/Head Instructor http://www.polefitrevolution.com http://www.facebook.com/polefitrevolution http://www.youtube.com/polefitrevolution

Here is mine: Oops! There are some type-os. 😳 To Whom it May Concern, My name is Sage Sitton-Leppala, and I have been a long time M&Ms fan. M&Ms have always been my candy of choice, but recently an event has taken place where I feel that I and many friends of mine have been victims of a prejudice on your company's behalf. I'm referencing a recent order placed by Christopher Brand (order number: 0010544613). Your company's decision not to fulfill this order because of an uneducated, ignorant and hypocritical prejudice has greatly offended the thousands of men and women in the pole fitness community. Our sport, which is being considered for the Olympics, deserves to be respected as any other sport. By denying those in the pole community the same courtesies you offer to other athletes, you have shown how truly intolerant you are as a company. I'm not sure your company understands what a big mistake this was. The intended recipient of these custom M&Ms is an important and highly respected pioneer of the pole community. She is the friend, instructor, and inspiration of thousands around the world. Pole fitness is a constantly growing sport, and your company treated Christopher Brand like his money and business were not valuable to you because you assumed that the image was that of a stripper. Which it wasn't, but even if it had been, is it a common practice of your corporation to degrade people based on their profession? The image is of a very talented athlete doing an extremely difficult pole hold that requires a lot of strength, balance, flexibility and focus. As far as being a "family company", which is what was told to Christopher Brand during his phone conversation (also pretty degrading, considering he is the loving father of 4 children) I can't help but laugh at the hypocrisy behind the statement. Your ad campaign for the "Green M&M" have bothered me as a mother for some time now. I don't understand why you have to make the female M&M the sexy sexual one while all the males are doofus like characters. Nice job feeding into the "sex sells" propaganda. After hearing about your adamant disapproval of "strippers" or "stripper poles" as your employees so loving called our chosen exercise equipment, I was offended for a couple reasons. First, as a huge corporation, I would think you would all be educated and train your employees that NO prejudice will be tolerated. I suppose you are only concerned with racism, sexism, etc. I guess it didn't occur to you that treating someone like a lesser person because of the occupation you *think* they do is just as bad a treating them differently based on their skin color, gender, or sexual orientation. How disgusting. Shame on you. Now, let's talk about the hypocrisy of your company. Please watch the following commercial, a commercial that was produced by you, where the Green M&M is...ahem...on a "stripper pole" ...stripping!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QKnCLHX6X4k I guess I'm confused, what exactly says "Family Company" about this commercial? Shame on your company, you have lost a lifelong customer in me, and many others in the pole community. We will be expecting an apology to Christopher Brand for the way you treated him and his family, and also to the entire pole community for treating us like insignificant people, customers, and athletes.
