I know this sounds kind of funny, but for a person who doesn't have alot of money to spend on a pole, how doable would making my own pole be? Like out of stuff you'd get at a hardware store? I'm somewhat handy at that kind of stuff, but I didn't know if the metal my pole was made out of would cause problems if it weren't a certain type. Or issues like that. -misselissa-

I did...the tutorials are still up on my You-Tube site. (POLEDANCEFAN) I'm not necessarily sure this is always the way to go, however. In my case, the pole project sort of evolved out of a half serious performance skit I did on You-Tube poking fun at my own obsession with watching pole videos See "poledancefan's wife lays down the law." Buying and putting up a real pole upstairs where there was decent ceiling height was never an option. I'm still poling with the graceful forebearance of my wife--but that pole is never leaving the basement. Of course, now, when I look back on it, I know that I probably always intended to try it out. Building the pole from electrical conduit as a do it yourself project gave me the "cover" I needed to do just exactly what I always intended to do without exactly having to declare my intentions, LOL! Of course my wife was never fooled by this charade..we are an odd marriage of extemely stubborn first borns. I think she knew the moment she saw that first pipe fitting there was going to be a pole in the house one day. The homemade pole is very rough and doesn't have a finish that grips well. It was cheap, however. If you are putting one up in a basement where cosmetics don't matter, you can get a pole up for less than 100$. My biggest expense was the tubing cutter tool--24$. I was real paranoid about safety, so I surrounded the mounting hooks with an extra Oak board and a steel strap on the joist. You can't really do this sort of thing in a Living Room! Polemistress in Canada has a homemade pole. Her husband is a professional machinist who had the ability to mill the surface to better specifications. He was also able to replicate a powder coat--something beyond the abilities of most people's home hardware set-up. There is a new poler on you-tube named Trena with a homebuilt also. Frankly, now that I'm serious about it, I wish I had a real pole with a nice grippy finish. It's no secret that in North America, Platinum Stages and X-pole are the 2 brands everbody talks about. Depending upon the particularities of your dwelling, one or the other will suit you best. If X-pole is that brand, order it through Veena! Joel
My husband was trained as a mechanical engineer and one of our students has double degrees in Maths and engineering (Phd in Aerospace engineering...) They both think the x-pole is the business. Our student created her own, and it doesn't have the same level of sideways pressure that an X-Pole has. We don't have platinum stages in NZ, therefore I can't comment, but Elite Poles also seem to be good. If you're a bigger girl (ie over 50kg as the media thinks that's "fat"...), it's best to consider getting a professional pole, or follow Joel's instructions to the letter. X-Pole has a 2500kg sideways force, which means the centrifugal force is capable of holding pretty much anyone and in a country like NZ with quite a few Rubenesque Amazons, that's a biggie for us!
so realllllly want to make my own pole for the yard, but am wicked nervous about doing something wrong and ending up w broken bones.. 😢 😮 i know some people have done this so am guessing it is possible .. 😎 anyone know of any tutorials of how to SAFElY make an outdoor pole>? am also considering stage pole, but hear so many conflicting things, not sure what to think about them 🤔

I can't tell you how to make a pole but I'm sure there are plenty of tutorials on it 🙂 I'm planning to make my own pole too (X-pole shipping is astronomical to Europe) and I talked to a locksmith about it. He said that it can be made in a way that it will be as stable as the X-pole. You'll probs have to forgo the ceiling dome and drill the pole into the ceiling and the floor, but it's still better than no pole isn't it 😉 The dude also showed me stainless steel plumbing tubes with various diameter sizes and he said that he can polish them electronically to make them less slippery. They're really cheap as well, the whole thing's going to cost you like 1/3 of the price of the X-pole. I'm savign up for a brass pole because I already have a stainless steel one and it doesn't work for me. But if you like stainless, I'd defo ask a locksmith or someone competent to make it for you, it's possible!

I have been thinking about a yard pole also poletwista, if you come across anything helpful please share, I would love to have an outdoor pole! My Dad turned my flirty girl fitness pole into a permanent pole somehow and with the help of a golf ball it spins, unfortunately that is ALL it does I cannot figure out how to make it static.
i definatly will let you know if come up w anything. would be so great to pole outdoors. ☀️ 🌸

I just cemented a pole in the ground in my backyard. Work well for me! Although i much prefer my x-pole situated in my kitchen. 🙂
Here's my post for making your own pole. Permanent would be the only option for this one. YOu could change the size, pole material, or make it static only. I made a pole out of a 1 1/2 inch galvanized steel pipe with a flange on either end. It was ok so that I had something to learn on and get good enough to justify spending nearly $400 CDN on an X-pole. I spray painted it silver and then with clear acrylic spray paint to give it grip. The first pole vid I made is of that pole. The problems were that I had to bolt it to my ceiling and floor so when i took it down I now have a big hole in my floor and ceiling. Also, it's wasn't an x-pole. I always get excited about things and then never finish them. I have nearly a dozen half crocheted things and art projects and things I never finshed so if your someone like me than it was a good way to try it out for cheap before investing, but I LOVED IT! So I saved for a long time and just bought an x -pole from this most wonderful website! I must live near the distributing wearhouse because I got it that very day!!! That very day!! Amagine my shock when it arrived, it took more than 2 weeks to transfer the money into my pay apl account and I got the pole the same day I ordered it! SO the point is, some of the other home made poles on here look better than the one I made and it is a good way to see if you are into it but once you have a few months under your belt, or if you ever try an x-pole, you will be saving your pennies cuz it honestly is the best thing I ever invested in. It has changed my life more than I can say in this one little post (not just the x -pole but poling in general)!!

Hi Guys, i need Help 😕 I have a home made pole, made from plumbing tube BUT why am i sticking to it can't slid is it because of the pole(plumbing tube) it-self or the room is too hot or am i hot, actually im never hot im always cold with the air con on. I live in a hot country Kuwait. I have'nt even began to started on my pole and i cant slid down my thighs r stuck i've wiped my pole down. what is my problem ?????? ❓
