I have a 4years old that like to play on the pole which I feel it will help her w/ gymnastics, my husband and I don't mind at all but she talks about it when she is out, maybe at a friends house or w/ her grandfather and it sounds pretty odd if you know what I mean. What Should I do?

I would start refering to it around your child as something other than just a pole. For instance, "gymnastics apparatus" since she does gymnastics or, "dancing apparatus". It will get her in the habit of saying it around other people instead of just saying she's a pole dancer, which, while everyone here understands, other individuals might be less accepting.

Haha.. This reminds me of a little tale...took my goddaughter to Tesco last year, whilst waiting in the barriers at the check out she started swinging around the poles that hold the line in place, and shouted at the top of her voice, "Auntie Shona, you do this at home!", everyone in the que wa watching and listening.. Hehehe!

I refer to my pole by name or say that it's my excerise equipment. I've never called it a pole or pole dancing around my kid because she's just too young to understand.
I have explained to her that it's for exercising and she understands since there is a rope at her gymnatics and they climb the same as we do our pole. Think I'm going to stick w/ "Baby let Goldie", thats my pole name, "be our secret" lol.
I heard the term "vertical bar" used in Blood, Sweat, and Hot Pants. Maybe you would be more comfortable with that? I have older daughters (11 and 16), so I'm in a different situation, but I don't like to ask them to keep secrets.
you could call it a dance beam? i like vertical bar too. the term 'apparatus' works too, but it sounds very technical. lol- if i heard a toddler use the word apparatus i think i would bust out laughing.
