Lil' Mynx

I hate to be the black sheep of the forum, but I own a Lil' Mynx 🙂 Anywho, I've just had it a couple of weeks, but several times it's become detached from the ceiling. I put a sticky note on the top part (the part you're not supposed to pull on because it's pressure-mounted) and noticed that as I did faster spins that it was moving...a.k.a. it was unscrewing itself. I'll be calling tomorrow for sure to see what the company says, meanwhile, anyone else have one and have this problem?

thanks for letting me know well had been considering getting little mynx but more have thought about it think would rather stick to what's tried and true for me X-pole 50mm thnx

wow i have never heard of this . i have a lil mynx rotator and i have never had any issue what so ever . it is solid as a rock . I'm wondering if maybe for some reason you have it mounted to loosely or something . i cant remember who it is but there is some one else on here that has one to and i am pretty sure that they love there as much as i love mine . . i have mine mounted very tightly . when i take it up and down i have to really give it a few hard tugs to get it into place that way it is i guess you could say wedged between the floor and the ceiling mount . and i have to sit on the floor and give it a good push with my feet to get it down . but when i first got it i asked several girls from you tube that had them how they mounted it to make sure that it stayed put and this is how they told me to do it ... if i were you i would def give the company a call and let them know the issue and find out what they say you should do .

You know, I think you may have been right about needing to make sure it was super-tight. When I measured floor to ceiling I didn't account for floor-squishiness when I added that extra 1" to the pole height, so I went back and added another 1/2 an inch. I swung around a few times and it didn't budge so maybe that was the problem! (I hurt my back trying a new move so I'll be off the pole for a few weeks and won't really be able to give it a good testing for awhile--dang it) Thanks for the help 😀

So I know this is late but just wanted to add my two cents. I have a Lil' Mynx too. My first one kept doing that and the CEO called me to troubleshoot and we couldn't figure it out so he sent me out a new pole (at no charge to me) and had me ship back my old one (again no charge or hassel, they took care of it all). So customer service-wise I am really happy. But it was probably the carpet, I have a squishy carpet too, and since I've accounted for it the pole has been solid as a rock for any spin or inversion that I've done. So Lil' Mynx as a pole company is great, you just have to be careful to account for carpet softness.

I have a lil mynx also and it is a great pole. I love that it is once 8 foot piece. The downside is that my stainless steel is real slick and it has to be broken into which can take a while.

When I said break down the stainless steel, I should've used the word condition. I am quoting someone from the S factor message boards, "The downside is that if you buy the stainless steel, you have to condition the pole for use.... usually it won't grip like the poles in the studio until you practice on it for a while." This person said that she loves the surface of the x-pole. No pre-conditioning required. She also said that these things seemed to work well for her: 1)hairspray the pole and hairspray your palms 2) a dime size dollop of men's shaving gel I already bought a lil mynx when I did more research. My studio I took classes at recommended the lil mynx. I've used the dollop size of men's shaving gel and it helps when I am trying a new inverted move. I am actually very happy with the lil mynx because I have to take it down often before visitors arrive and I just throw it on the bed till they leave.

Just found this thread. I have a Lil' Mynx stainless steel with spinny option - I've been using it for over a year and never had a problem. It is super slick, though. This winter was very frustrating because it was so hard to get grip in my cold basement. On the plus side, now that it's spring, I can't believe how well I can grip - and, whenever I go to the local pub, which has brass poles, I feel like I'm flying! So while I bitch and moan a bit about how slippery it is, I know it makes it easier for me to work on other poles - if I can do something on mine, I can do it on anything. Heck, in winter, even if I can't do it on mine, I still can on other poles.

This is interesting! I got my pole just a couple of months ago and noticed because my house isn't as hot n' sweaty as class that my grip on my cold pole was HORRID, but I didn't know it was because it was brand-spanking new too. I was beginning to feel a little like I was cheating for having to use tight grip almost every time I got on, but it's getting to the point where I don't need it every time. Is putting hairspray on or using shaving gel the equivalent of using Tight Grip on my hands?

I've never actually used tight grip for my hands. I like using the men's shaving gel because it can help my legs to grip when trying a new inverted move.

I don't really know. My pole is slippery, but not to the point of needing grip aids. I do wipe it down with rubbing alcohol. But in my case, it's really a temperature/humidity thing. The winter was not a happy pole time.

I chose the powder coated for extra grip, but I find I am still wiping the pole down every couple moves because it's too slippery 🙁 I didn't have this much trouble when I was using the studio's stainless steel pole. The house is temperature controlled, so it's not the weather, am I just cursed with sweaty palms or should I be wiping the pole down with something other than windex?

PoleDork- I'm pretty sure Andrea told me during chat on Friday that she owns a powder-coated lil mynx, maybe you could send her a message and she could help you out. I've never even touched one before, so I dunno 🤔

I have a black powder pole and I sometimes find the same thing. I haven't figured out why yet so sometimes I just break down and use rubbing alcohol which seems to help quite a bit although I know it isn't good for the finish. I'm going to experiment with different types of windex to see if it is a factor because it didn't used to do this and I can't remember what I used to use, but that was also in summer, fall, and early winter so it might be weather since it's been snowing a bit lately. But for the moment I just clean it all the time (super annoying but better then slipping off) and when that still isn't working I break down and use rubbing alcohol. Poledork, let me know if you find anything. Although I think in my situation it is possibly a combo of weather, sweaty hands, and possibly cleaner type.

Thanks for the info freethesun 🙂 When you use rubbing alcohol, do you dilute it? Andrea also has the lil' mynx powder finish but doesn't have the same problem, so I think my problem is the pole cleaner or possibly the soap i'm using for my hands. I'm going to experiment with both so i'll let you know if I find a winner 🙂 Meanwhile i'm going to invest in tite grip or something similar.

I have a black lil mynx stationary pole, and the grip is great because of the powder coating but the only downside to the coating is the pole burn is worse. I've been on brass pole, the lil mynx colored pole, and the chrome xpole in both 50 and 45mm. As far as grip goes they basically go in that order as far as best to worse, stainless steel I've always been told is the worse. chrome xpole is slippery but manageable once you get used to it. As far as the lil mynx coming away from the ceiling I've never had that happen but I've never grabbed that part of the pole and my ceiling isn't to much taller than 8" so it doesn't show that much.

I have had my Lil Mynx pole for about 2 weeks. I love it and have had no problems with it. It is slippery. I don't know if its the pole or just me not being strong enough to pull up or hold on. My thighs grip it so I think its just my hands. Either way I love my Lil Mynx pole!

I have a stainless steel Lil Mynx rotator pole. It was very slick and slippery at first but, after continuous use it now provides the grip I need. When I attended the studio I learned on a black powder coated Lil Mynx. I love my pole and it doesn't give me any trouble. When I first installed it there was a problem because, I didn't have it in a ceiling joist. After successfully finding a ceiling joist and installing the pole I never had a problem with it moving. It is very comfortable and you must make sure that when you put it up adjust the inner pole to the correct length so there is no movement in the pole. So have fun on the Lil Mynx!

I have a lil mynx brushed stainless steel pro pole....I have never had any problems with it...I've been using it for two years and I love it....when I was researching poles it was and still is endorsed and recommended by Fawnia Mondey...it's the poles she uses in her studio. It's important to follow the instructions exactly for setting it up....it's no different than the x-pole that way (which I have one of those as well) You need to make sure you are checking it after a few uses because of the settling...and making sure when you are screwing it to the height you need that you are not pulling it at the same time, that applies to both poles when they are not permanently mounted....it is possible to have a faulty mechanism but it's rare. I advocate for both poles....they are the best out there! Good luck to you!!

I have 5 lil mynx poles at my studio and I have to say that the grip is awesome. I have always used brass poles and have had the stainless ps poles as well as the chrome x poles. I love love the grip on these lil mynx. From day one, the girls have raved about how much better they can grip even better than the brass. I also have never had a problem with the poles moving. You definitely need to make sure you get it nice and snug when putting it up. I have decided to sell my static and am getting all rotators now. Cant wait ;)
