Just a little idea veena..... I am in LOVE with the new site, but I wish we had a "like" button like fb or youtube.. or a "love" button....lol I would enjoy letting other polers know i like their comments or certain forum posts..... Just an idea! :D

Ha, I have thought that at times to. sometimes I have even looked for the like button..!! lol

Not to be a party pooper, but I would rather keep everything as far away from facecrack as I possibly can. 💪

Runemist, Facebook's problem isn't their software; it's their developers' philosphy. Which is something along the lines of "if it dosn't break you're not progressing fast enough" IMHO that's not an exceptable philosphy for programmers working in a live system with hundreds of millions of users. I've built social networking softwhere similar (but better if I do say so myself) to what facebook uses and we don't have the any of those issues.

Sanchara, um...that's totally not why I don't like facebook... I don't like facebook because I don't enjoy the idea of reducing our social interactions with other human beings down to the simple act of going onto one website and checking everyone's statuses. I don't like the idea that if you're "not on facebook" then you're barely considered worth contacting, and that's only if your friends have bothered to notice you're missing. I don't like the fact that we've distilled it down so far that people will not speak with others in person, but they will on facebook. And I don't like the idea of a "Like" button because I don't think a complex opinion should be shortened down like that. Rather than "Yes, I completely agree, I think this statement is correct because..." we put it down to "like." It takes away accountability and interaction, and...well, that's why I'm here. I'm here to interact. Hopefully that's understandable.
Runemist34, to be honest, I didn't really know how to respond to your comment. I think I was surprised....I understand what you are saying, but I really don't think that a simple "like" button would reduce the amount of contact on SV. Facebook is also a "social networking site" with billions of people, whereas "StudioVeena.Com is the premiere online pole-dancing community and education resource," therefore, I would like to add that this was a suggestion that I wanted to express to the pole community. I guess I'll just have to "like" everything that Veena puts on Facebook. Were interacting over a conversation about the lack of interaction in the internet expression button"like." Hope I didn't offend anyone too much.... Happy Poling!
Peaceloveblonde, I apologize if I made you uncomfortable. I don't enjoy the idea of people assuming, so I got a little...upset. This is a big thing in my circle of friends, and so it kind of became a big thing in my life. I suppose I just fear that it'd be the same as...well, most things I see on the internet. I'm fine with a little bit of one word answers, you know..."Awesome!" when people get a move, or whatever, but I would rather get that than "Like!" However, as I can see with most of the other forums I visit, the art sites, and even my online University Poetry class is just "Like!" and that's all I get. I may have overreacted, so I'm sorry.
It's probably best to keep on topic, don't want people to be upset! This is a question for Veena really and only SV should factor in to it. =)

I find it perverse and strange just how badly I wanted to hit a 'like' button to Runemist's response post to Sanchara. It's nothing personal, just like Facebook.
Well, I'd like to step in play devil's advocate here... What *I* find amusing is how quick people are to blame a piece of technology for their own failings. If your friends are forgetting to invite you to things because you're not on facebook, or your friends are clicking 'like' on your facebook page because they can'tb be bothered talking to you, the problem is not facebook. The problem is your friends. Social networking sites, such as facebook, give us quick and easy ways to do a great multitude of things that we enjoy doing, including interacting with our friends. They don't have to REPLACE all those things. Just because it's there it doesnt mean you have to use it. There are escalators at the train station, but you can always use the stairs too. In other words, a 'Like' button (like anything really) should be used in moderation. Sometimes a long response is NOT necessary. Before the 'Like' button even existed, people used to say "I like this pic!' and leave it at that. The mere existence of a 'Like' button does not take away anyone's ability to post thoughtful repsones. Only your own attitude towards the 'Like' button will do that. So, Rumenist, I agree with you on your point that reducing human interaction down, distancing ourselves from our friends etc, is not a good thing. However, I don't agree that facebook, or any piece of technology, ought to cop the blame. Humans are responsible for what happens to human relationships, behaviour and social lives. Not computers.
