So this is for all of you who are somewhat expiereinced . When i practice a spin i find i can do it way better on the one side than on the other . Can you guys do both sides equally well ? TIA . ❗

NO! Im right handed and theres alot I can do right handed but inverts Im left handed. Sometimes doing a move on my left just doesnt feel right. But you have to work your non dominate side to get it as equally strong as the other side.
Depends on the spin. I learn everything with the left hand first even though I'm right-handed. This is because I learn from videos and I mirror the instructors who typically work with the right hand! Some spins I do better with the right hand (RGs, fireman spins) others with the left (chair and reverse spins). I do work everything on both sides except for cradle. Whenever I try the cradle from the right-hand side, I can't get my body in position--my brain goes all Scooby-Doo "ruh?" I'm working on it, though!
Definitely right handed! As soon as we transition and work on the left, I immediately panic and get the "Huh?" look on my face. It takes time, though, and practice, I'm learning. Some moves feel better on one side than the other, but it's important to work both sides. As one of my instructors pointed out last week in class, "No one wants to be lopsided."

I've been doing spins on both sides, right from the beginning. For most spins I hardly notice the difference of doing them left or right anymore. The only real exception is the Scottish Straddle, but that's an odd one anyway. And my side spin could be stronger on the left side. 😕 The key is to just keep at it with your weak side. Practice makes perfect (and all those other clichés) are very true in this case. Your strength and coordination WILL improve! 👍
Many of us tend to "favor" one side as we feel more secure and stronger on that side. However the better you "balance" your body by being strong enough and agile enough to do moves on both sides, the better you're overall dancing will look. If you're dominant right, the more you strengthen and improve your left side the better your right handed moves will look.
Even though I'm left handed, I ended up being right dominant in my spins. Most spins I can do with my left pretty well because of being slightly ambidextrous, but I still can't get a reverse grab spin on the left side... my body doesn't want to do the physics correctly going in that direction, lol. Knowing which side you're dominant on is a good thing! That means you're aware of it and can work on your non-dominant side as well. Just be patient with your non-dominant moves.

I'm right handed but can spin on both sides - it does look a lot better when you perform if you don't have to keep adjusting your stance to use the 'correct' arm! There are pole moves i can do on one side but not the other; i do star from basic invert with my right knee hooked but have to hook my left if i SM into it! For handsprings/ ayshas etc my right arm needs to be low - my left wrist is super weak and aches badly if i use it in that position. I do what's comfy really! but thankfully my left bicep is starting to catch up on the right - looked bad for a while there!!

I'm right handed but my left is generally dominant, when it comes to pole. Some things I'm better at with my right hand though, and my cradles and corkscrews feel seriously wonky on the "wrong" side - I really struggle with my co-ordination during them. When I'm in practise mode, I consciously try to use my weak side but when I'm just dancing around, I tend to go with whatever side I'm best with.
I am right handed but for pole I like doing left handed best. The other day my husband noticed my arms had more muscle, which was nice! ❓ Oddly, my right arm is slightly bigger than my left even though I use my left 80% more in pole. What should I do to even it out? Anybody? Its not big difference, but I noticed when I compared them, is that normal? poleaphile- your Scooby doo comment cracks me up, now I'm going to think that. lol
I'm definately better at right handed. I have to keep reminding myself to practice left handed spins, it feels like I have to go back to basics with my left because I haven't used it so much! I also have a problem with cradle one way, I can do a weak looking one with my right arm high, but it's much more stable with my right low and my left high. I guess that means I'm using my lower arm for support more. Having read this thread and thought about it, I'm gonna make a real effort to concentrate on left sided things in my class this week!
