Just lettin yall know I peaked! 😮 I saw Ladies Only and couldn't help myself 😂 But this kind of talk doesn't even phase me. Women are always pretty open around me and I hear these kinds of conversations all the time 😀 🐱
shame on you jungle cat! 😉
ok, so I don't know how much has actually been discussed here because this thread was crazy long by the time i got to it. so if I am repeating something, my apologies in advance. I am absolutely intrigued by the whole idea of a cup that is eco friendly and more healthy for my body. My time spent in the red district only span about 3 days and they are crazy light at that . 3 cheers for the NuvaRing!!! I don't go through a lot of tampons but absolutely count on them I work in the water nearly everyday of my life so I am always freaking out about whether I or not I missed tucking in a string! UGH! What I like about the cup idea is that you will never have to ask for a tampon in a girls room again, there is now freedom from being up that creek without a paddle. It just seems like the pros to ditching out tampons outweigh the cons. I am going to continue to research this further but during the research I have done so far I came across these nifty things: http://ticklemepinkstore.com/SeaPearls.aspx I like this idea as well cause its green and seems to eliminate cup sizing issues. Either way, I think I want to switch. Anyone ever use these?
Wow!! I learned something new!! So I am not sure if the question was address, and I agree with some of you guys, I dont use tampons for those reasons too!! But back to my question, could you use this over night than while you are sleeping? Just curious, and I wasnt aware about that while inverting on the pole soo way good to know! Even though I dont exercise much anyway when im on my friend for the week!! 😳

Wow, I wasn't aware of "Natural Sea Sponge Tampons." That's really cool. I'm in love with my cup so I'll probably never get around to trying them, but for those of you who can't use a cup for whatever reason this looks like a cool alternative. As for beccagirl's question about whether or not they can be used overnight: If you're referring to the sea sponge tampons, I really have no idea. As for cups, you can absolutely use them overnight while you sleep. It's perfectly comfortable and safe. ☀️

i LOVE my diva cup! i have had it for well over a year now & it really is awesome! i highly recommend them! 😁

I have a Diva Cup too, and for those who had problems with it, I've read that many people following the instructions exactly have issues (ie inserting it just inside the opening to the vagina) but if you put it further in, problems vanish. Also, some people have better luck with the Diva Cup if they use it inside out (I think this makes it a little shorter and a bit easier to pop open). So a couple of things to try if you want to give yours another go! However, I'm not an experienced user yet, because I also have major period weirdness. Last year I didn't have a period for over 9 months (no, not pregnant!) and I doubt I ever would have had one without medication. So I just wanted to suggest to the other girls who'v mentioned weird/missing periods, please consider having yourself checked out for polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). And if you think you have it, don't let your doctor blow you off just because they know nothing about it - find a new doctor!!
Rubi, Yeah, when I insert it it's all the way in, pointed towards the tail bone, and spins with ease. I DID just do some online searches, and I found a forum about menstrual cups. I found a thread where a girl was having the same problems as I did, and she tried inserting it with a different fold than the usual "C" fold. She said it started working much better for her. So...I'll have to give that a try when my cycle comes back around (in a week or so). I'll let you all know if it works for me (since I'm sure you're just DYING to know 😂 ). Here's the link to that forum in case any of you are interested in some more detailed reading on the topic. 🤓 http://menstrualcups.org/"; I'm so glad you found a (potential) solution! 🥂 Thanks for the link; I had no idea there were sites dedicated to the wonders of menstrual cups. I really would be curious to hear whether or not this works out for you. 😳 I had never thought of trying different folds. YAY!!!! So, I tried my Diva Cup again this cycle, using the "oragami" fold instead of the "c" fold, and WHOOHOO!!!! It works! I'm SO happy!! I will say though, that it made me realize how insanely heavy my periods are! Yikes! Kind of weird to be able to measure your "loss", but very informative. 🤓 I'm so glad that I stumbled upon this forum, and then researched the subject a little further. Now my purse, my body AND me will be happier. 🙂 Thanks, RUBI! For any of you ladies who've had the problem of the cup not staying in, watch this instructional video on how to insert the cup (don't worry, it doesn't show "real" lady parts!), and try the second fold that they show you. That's the one that ended up working for me. http://www.mooncup.co.uk/advice-centre/faqs.html#237"; ☀️

Once you go cup, you never go back! 🥂 That fold looks awesome. It looks like it would open up even more easily. Going to try it.

Can u invert with 1 of these cups in? i didnt even know about them, they sound like a good idear and less costly than buying tampons/pads etc but im active on my periods and the thought of going upside down and where the blood goes isn't nice 😕 You can absolutely invert with a cup. I do whatever I want when I'm on my period and I've never had any problems with my cup. Here's the relevant section of DivaCup.com's Q&A: Q. Could the flow reverse back into your body while performing very active sports or headstands? A.The DivaCup holds one ounce (30 ml). The entire average monthly flow is around 30 to 40 ml according to the Mayo Clinic. Theoretically, the flow could slosh around inside the cup and reverse out of the cup slightly, but it cannot travel back through the small cervical opening from which the flow expels. It's fantastic for swimming, outdoor enthusiasts, aerobics, cycling, traveling, camping, etc. It is perfect for extreme sports also. You will feel fresh, secure, and liberated. No feminine hygiene products to pack (or run out of). No worries about staying close to a bathroom. No restrictions on physical activity. Because you can wear The DivaCup longer than tampons or pads, you have the convenience of not having to think about your period all day long! 👍
I remember the menstrual cups that came out in the '90s... tried 'em and hated them. It had a totally different design than the Diva cup though. Might be worth a whirl next time I order from drugstores.com 👽

StudioVeena is amazing... I was just browsing old forums about poling and period and I found this!! I think I'll give Diva Cup a try...lol

I've been using a menstrual cup for almost 3 years now. They're amazing - one of the best inventions for women! I use the "Lunette" menstrual cup, but there are lots of different brands (and colors) including: DivaCup, FleurCup, LadyCup, Keeper, SheCup, MiaCup, MeLuna, FemmeCup. How you fold the cup before insertion is KEY to easy insertion (making sure the cup pops open, once it's inside you). I use the "7 Fold" which is much easier to insert (for me) than the default "C-fold" that's shown on the instructions. The Menstrualcups.org website that Spinnyfox mentioned is GREAT if you have questions or need advice about using your menstrual cup. Another good site for folks considering a menstrual cup is: http://menstrualcupinfo.wordpress.com/ ; The woman who runs this website has videos and instructions on insertion, removal, different brands, etc. Reasons I love my menstrual cup... * Can be worn for 12 hours! You don't have to constantly think about your period. * Financially smart. The average woman spends $3,000 - $4,000 over the course of her lifetime on period supplies. A menstrual cup costs approx. $25-35, and will last for 10 years. * Made of medical-grade silicone (the same silicone that pacemakers, and heart devices are made from). Because they are made of silicone, menstrual cups do not harbor bacteria, like tampons can. Most menstrual cups are FDA approved. * Menstrual cups do not cause Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS) like tampons can. * Tampons can dry-out your vag, because they absorb your natural moisture. * Tampons are bleached and contain dioxins (toxic chemical residues from bleaching). Google "tampons and dioxins" for more information on this. * Environmentally conscious. No clogged toilets and landfills from millions of tampons. * No need to drag period supplies with you - or take your purse to the bathroom. When your menstrual cup is full, simply remove the cup, empty blood into the toilet, wipe, rinse, and re-insert. There is a bit of a learning curve to a menstrual cup, but it's definitely worth it. Give yourself 3 period cycles (3 months) to get comfortable with insertion & removal. I've gotten my sister hooked on menstrual cups now, and she also loves them!
Why, oh why, oh why didn't I take the hint from the title, "Ladies Only"? There are some things us guys just don't need to know about the feminine mystique! Reminder to self.....the clue to the content is in the title!
MIRENA! The solution to so many period problems! Let me start by saying that I'm in my third year of medical school, and I'm currently doing my OB/GYN rotation. It's the newer IUD, the older IUD is the copper kind, and there are some big differences. The copper IUD can increase your flow in some people, but Mirena actually decreases it in most people. And after several months, many women will stop having periods all together! Thats what happened to me, and I always used to have problems with breakthrough bleeding on the pill. There are very few side effects with Mirena, the hormone levels that it releases are so low that they're undetectable in the bloodstream. A very small minority of women will have bodies that reject it, but that's very uncommon. There is pain involved in getting it inserted, especially if you've never had kids, but the pain is over quickly! I felt fine after an hour, but most people are ok after about 20 minutes. It's good for up to five years and at any time if you want to try gettin pregnant, you just take it out and your fertility is restored right away. As to the post about safety being upside down when you're on your period, I've never heard anything about that and I can't think of any physiological or anatomical reason that it would be unsafe.

I don't have to worry about the menstral flow anymore (menopause), but do you think it would help with my ...hehe.. pole farts?😮
I don't think that a menstrual cup or IUD would help with pole farts LauraK, unfortunately! Haha I can't think of anything that would help with those, as they are the result of air getting into your vagina (not into your uterus, hence why anything pushed up closer to your cervix won't help) and then making a sound when it comes back out. The same mechanism as squeezing air out of a balloon when you pull the opening tightly!

I looked these up too.. eewww I don,t know if I fancy using them, I mean... they fill up you empty and use again??? what about over flows or spillages, what if poling when using these,, surely going upside down means your gonna empty the cup, so messy!! Does anyone use these> so many posts on it Haven't time to read them all..
I have the Mirena, and I HATE IT!! I've had it for 2 years, and it didn't shorten or stop my period, it actually lengthened it! So now my period is about 2 weeks long every month. The flow is lighter, but 2 weeks is excessive. I really want to get it removed, but when the doctor inserted it, he cut the strings too short, so now nobody can find it (I know it's in there, I can feel it!) so I'll have to have an ultrasound and all kind of rigmarole to get it out that I just don't feel like doing. (But I'm not pregnant, and that's just awesome!!! lol) DivaCup sounds interesting though. I think I wanna try it after reading all you guys comments!

I just bought the moon cup on Amazon! I did some research and the moon cup is one of the cup that uses surgical silicon, softer material, and it contains no dye color. Im gonna give it a try and let you ladies know...oh...sometime in June...on how it went...LOL But I'm excited about it!! Pads leaks and tampon is ruining the Ph in my body!!

I love veena! I was just researching this after seeing an add in a magazine yesterday and here is a thread answering all my questions! I'm going to order one...hate tampons and pads... Thanks every one for the info :)
Didn't read EVERY post.. (lol.. there are so many! :)... I used to use the Keeper. It was great. And you know what?? Nothing ever 'smelled' like it did on the cotton. (Gross, I know.. but it seem so much more sanitary) On the 'keeper' verision, tho, I had to trim the little 'handle' cause it was a bit uncomfortable. It was rubber, tho, so if you're allergic, I guess go for the Diva. Good luck girls. *breathes a sigh of menopausal relief* I'm so glad I don't have to deal with all that any more.
