Knee Hold

I was wondering if someone can help me.... I have been trying to get the knee hold but I haven't been able to find that "spot" where the pole is supposed to actually rest on the knee. I keep trying different places but it just hurts way too much and I end up quitting after one try. I think this move is awesome and I don't want to get completely discouraged.. Can someone clarify the breakdown? Thanks!

If your taking the lessons I cover a few different methods of entry and placement for this move, Using both hooked feet and open. The knee hold will hurt...but be sure your squeezing the hamstring of the top, hooked, leg so your taking pressure off the bottom leg. I think a common mistake is letting the bottom let take on all of the pressure. For the bottom leg...never place the pole on the knee cap or on the soft part around the knee cap. Oh yes! knee hold hurt like hell espicially at first lol Do you get your knee on the pole? you're suppose to have it lower, in fact it's more on your leg, that's why it hurt so bad at first. Pratice make better, now i can hold for a long time (still hurt a little) but at first couldn't hold for more than a second. And don't forget to push your hips forward. I feel like it reduce the pressure on the bottom leg since you hold more with the knee pit. Keep working it girl 😉

As Veena and tiggertail mention--more on the leg, not on the knee. Mine is on my shin, at quite an angle. Definitely, definitely push your hips forward. It'll cause you to spin backward slightly which can be scary, but it'll also equalize the pressure on your legs and lock in the grip. All of that adds up to far less pain. Maybe post a video of yours to show where you're placing your leg on the pole, etc--you'll get all sorts of helpful suggestions! :)

Thanks everyone! Those tips definitely clarified my concern. I took a workshop with Becca Butcher and she said the same thing you all are saying: its on the shin, cushiony part of the knee not the knee cap itself. I was just confused because other people place it on the knee which I don't want to get into the habit of doing. @polergirl I think I'll take your suggestion about the video.... Might be helpful!
