iTunes account hacked

Just thought I would share with you ladies that my iTunes account got hacked this weekend. iTunes stored my paypal info (don't remember if it was an option) and this person downloaded a crapload of movies and apps. Paypal automatically defaults to removing money from your bank account. Luckily I caught it in time but this person set my account to a max limit of $5000/month. Just would also note that the FB thread that has all of our e-mails is accessible on google.

that happened to me a few years ago. I had stored my credit card on itunes and someone hacked it an bought a domain and website stuff with it. They took $200 but I caught it but when I tried to have the domain company cancel the account and credit card they refused and the told me I had to call their number directly but get charged per minutre...So I no longer keep my credit on file with itunes. I just use a giftcard everytime I want to purchase

It has been over 2 years since I bought anything off itunes. I have had so many of my accounts hacked it is not even funny.

Just a quick note to help people understand this. Most "hacking" occurs because your computer is infected with a virus or spyware. These infections will log your key entries, specifically usernames and passwords and send them back to the software's owner. The best thing you can do to prevent "hacking" is to install a good piece of security software Trend Micro, Avast, and McAffee are all great products. If you're account information is regularly stolen it most likely means that you have an infection on your computer and you should get your machine professionally cleaned before you install the security software.

I will admit that my hacking was my bad. I have several passwords that I use for various things. My forum passwords are usually pretty weak because I could care less if someone logs in as me on a forum. I made the mistake of using my "weak" password on Facebook and within 2 weeks my account was hacked. Unfortunately I also had 3 other very old accounts set up with the same e-mail/password combo that were also hacked within a month of my FB account. I thought I had gotten all of mine changed but it looks like I missed one...yep, my iTunes account was set the same as the others. Used to be that a 6 character password was considered "safe".....um, not so much any more.
