Gosh... I was just watching Veena's featured video : Half Pole Hold Spin .. and.. It just all looks so MAGICAL. Even tho' it's a very basic, beginner type move - I can just see myself getting all tangled up with my arms, slammin into the pole.. ARGH! Did all of YOU feel like that once??

YES, the first six months or so every time learning a new move I was sure my ungraceful uncoordinated behind was going to get tangled, stuck, and then plop to the floor. It took awhile to believe I was capable of figuring out moves with help and more importantly on my own. Whenever trying a move now I KNOW and expect to get tangled up and make a mess of things. (never in an unsafe way though :) ) It is an important part of my learning process. As the move becomes learned and practiced, I untangle it little by little and really understand the move. So i say embrace the tangling of limbs! Just keep watching Veena's lessons and one day you will have magical moves!
Haha, you made me think about the first time a tried the full pole hold spin (same move but all the way around instead of just half)... :) Talk about feeling tangled up! I couldn't figure out how to get the momentum and grip strength both right at the same time. LOL
My first attepts at side spin had me all reef knotted up on the pole! Now it can do it and switch legs prettily! I did a butterfly to thigh rest last night and I looked pretty pretzel-y I had to hold it a long time because I couldn't figure out how to get out of it, lol!

Heh heh I watch so much on the youtubes then go to class and say "and you start off like this and then somehow magically end up like this!". I really need to get me some of that pole magic!!;)
OMG, talk about mangled mess :) When I was learning Superman (took me at least a year!) I'd get so mangled on the pole, my hubby would have to come and peel me off the pole, really!! One time I got so tied up, he wasn't around, I just had to plop myself to the ground, ouch! It all comes together before you know it. Still working on things and getting tangled :) I still can't do the Pole Hold Spin :(
