I'm looking for videos of this transition being done and tips on how to achieve it. It starts with an inverted verticla splits on the pole and ends in a position similar to a shoulder mount but with the front foot threaded through the arms. Any leads?

YOur son is adorable! But it's not quite the move I'm looking for, though it's close. I"m looking for a silimar move but the hands go on either side of the leg, I think sometimes with the elbow hooked around pole and leg. It ends up with the foot threaded between the arms in shoudler mount position.
I think amy called the ending pose a trapped leg shoulder mount splits?

I have a pic in my profile pics of a split lock. It sounds like what you are describing but I'm not positive.

start in inverted split. wrap same side elbow around pole as the leg that is down and get secue, then other hand goes above in true grip (so that when you come down it is in cupped grip). then you lean the top leg out and drop into split-- i've been taught this two different ways: jenyne teaches it as a controlled release with the top arm maintianing your distance from teh pole and your elbow pit already on the pole with your shoulder in place before you drop, but i believe natasha wang teaches it (i got the teaching second hand, so she can confirm) more as a drop where you get set but the elbow pit and shoulder don't touch the pole until you have dropped teh top leg all the way down. i would definitely suggest a strong spotter and crash pad to learn, because a lot can go wrong when you are first figuring it out. when you land in the split at the end, there is a lot of pressure on your hamstring because of the way your elbow is positoned around your thigh, i would be careful of that too and suggest this move only if you are hamstring flexibile.

I can't offer any helpful advice but this move has recently come to my attention in a couple of youtube clips and I think it looks AMAZING!
Yes thats the move! Thank you so much for the video and the tips. I've been trying to do it the "drop" way with the other hand grasping the hooked elbow hand, but since it's my weaker shoulder mount side I feel really insecure. I'll try it with the other hand ont he pole as a guide. Thanks!
