hey all! did any of you instructors receive a studio handbook (or something similar) when you were hired by your studio? if so, what kinds of information did it include? thanks!!!

Typically this is considered proprietary information. Studios have spent lots of time and money putting these together so I would not be surprised if you do not get a lot of responses.
Most business studio or not have an employee handbook with basic rules and regulations. As far as studio goes it should have basic guidelines for each level and what is to be taught (because all studios are very different) and additional types of classes given and what they require. Pretty basic information.
What deere said! Basically an outline of what's expected of the instructor/policies and class curriculum.

thanks for the responses! the instructors who teach other types of dance classes got their own set of curriculum, but pole instructors didn't get anything. nobody got anything written about studio policy, it was just given verbally. this is the first dance studio i've taught at, so i wasn't sure if it was "normal" for pole instructors to get anything along those lines.
Ah....I thought you were specifically looking for what all is contained in such book. I have been to studios that have such a thing but the majority that I have been to do not. It is becoming more commonplace though especially as safety is taking more of a role in the sport and certification/training programs are becoming more popular.

I give instructors a policy manual, and an instructors book with curriculum containing all levels. along with a break down of exercises relevant to the class lessons. It is very thorough. I also do hands on continued training. This enables consistency for the students. If someone is out ill, another instructor can step in to teach and know exactly what the lesson is and what they've already covered. It has been very successful for us. :) Note, my instructors are all employees though.
