I'm depressed... thanks to Hurricane Irene...

I just want to vent...please let me vent... My bf and I planned a 1.5 week vacation to CA and we're supposed to fly out tomorrow @ 6:30am: Yosemite, Napa, SF...We booked EVERYTHING...from hotel room in Yosemite, wine train tour / dinner in Napa, hot air balloon ride, mud bath, spa...and most importantly, meeting friends and polers in CA!!! I work for a utility company, yesterday, I got an e-mail and phone call from the senior management...ALL employees vacation have been cancelled...No exeception. To top it off, we have storm-duty...where most likely I'll be sending out in the middle of the night...like 3AM...to sit in the middle of the road watching a live wire flopping left and right... AHHHH!! This is supposed to be my FIRST vacation in 2011!! My bf and I been spending the last 6 hours calling places left and right to cancel our reservations... I just want to cry!! It's an expensive vacation too!!!! T_T

*hugs* That's horrible! I hope you get everything refunded, or at least be able to change dates without paying fees/fines. Just take heart in knowing that you are helping keep your community safe. I know how it feels. My husband and I were supposed to go to Japan for our honeymoon last year. Then the tsunami and nuclear crisis happened.

Thanks Lily~ HUGS~ My company will reimburse everything...it just a big disappointment and a pain the butt to cancel then reschedule everything...We already spent over 8 hours on the phone =( Then knowing I'll be sitting in the rain during a hurricane just wasn't too thrill...but duty calls...sigh. The rain is hitting us hard now...I'm just sitting in my living room waiting for the phone call to be dispatched...I hope it won't be too crazy out there!!! I just finished taping all my windows, sotck up on food and water...I wish everyone in the East Coast GOOD LUCK!!! ❗

I'm sorry that your plans have been postponed. Hopefully you can reschedule and enjoy that vacation soon! I'm sure you would much rather be at a spa with your honey than standing around as live wires whip all over the place. 😲

Mechie, I also hope that it isn't too crazy out there, and that you don't have to go out much. That totally SUCKS about your vacation. I was glad to hear that your company is going to reimburse you for your airfare and any other cancellations you have to make. It sounded like such a great vacation! I hope you will be able to reschedule soon. I will thinking of you and everyone on the east coast - my mom lives in NC near the coast, but they are fine, just lost electricity (lol) and it's raining hard!! (hugs) <3

As of 5AM today, the unofficial peak outage for CL&P was ~700,000 now it's down to ~600,000.
