I need help choosing a pole!

FINALLY I am getting my own pole! I've been doing pole for over a year now and I finally convinced my boyfriend to let me take over his dining room. =) So that raises a lot of questions on what I need. I have always worked on chrome poles, some 45 and some 50. I think I want a 45 at home but the rest I'm unsure of. I was looking at x pole and they have a lot of options, but coming to studio Veena they also have poles that are a bit cheaper. What does everyone else use/what would you recommend???

Finish is such a personal thing but I will say you will probably want a 45 at home for sure no matter what finish you decide on. Make sure you try the finish before buying!!!

The StudioVeena Pole is powdercoated which provides a more consistent grip experience when compared to finishes such as chrome, stainless and brass. This is the reason we chose to sell a powdercoated pole.

Webmaster, can you help me understand the differences between a powder coated pole and a chrome pole? Will the powder coat eventually rub off?

It is called powdercoating because it is applied as a powder then baked which creates a smoothe, durable finish. The finish is so durable that it is how they paint motorcycle frames and its even commonly used on playground equipment. Powdercoating tends to be super grippy for most people and will maintain a relatively consistent grip under varying conditions. Chrome finishes are also very durable but tend to be much less grippy. The grip on metal finishes will vary widely depending on temperature, humidity and your body chemistry the day you are dancing. In the end though, as long as you go with a major manufacturer you will receive a quality pole.

I had the same dilemma back when I got my pole. I went back and forth for weeks and then decided on a 45 and very happy I did. My studio has a 50 and a 40 and I can use all three but love my 45. I went with xpole (chrome) because of my high ceilings. I have learned by researching the preference of finishes is that everyone's body is different on what works for them.

I've got a titanium gold 50mm xpert xpole which I love but I do find myself lusting after an sv pole cos they are beautiful, pity I'm in the uk :(

Thanks for all the advice! I'm not positive, but I think I'll stick with a chrome x pole. My studio uses chrome and it would be a shame if I didn't feel I could transfer skills from one pole to the other or liked one more than the other swaying my bias of where I should be working out.

I bought my Xpole through SV. I have a chrome 45mm Xpert. I chose this one because that's what my studio uses and I didn't want to worry about changing product grips on brass vs. chrome or hand/leg grips on 45mm vs. 50mm. It was the best decision for me because poling at home is just like at the studio except for the height restriction here.

Yes, forgot to mention, make sure you get the xpert xpole if you are going with xpole. I have never trained on a static pole but if you read the blogs you will see most like the option of spinning or static. The sport is only static and sooner or later you will want the option to spin.

Do you stick well to the chrome at the studio? If so, then going grippier might get you in the predicament of super over grip, which hurts like a mofo. If you have grip issues ont he chrome, you can go up to TG, brass, or PC. Brass is hit or miss for some people. People with very soft dry skin don't stick to brass well, while girls like me with moist skin over grip. PC can be great grip or overgip. I do not know of many people who struggle on PC like they do on brass. TG, to me, is like using a slightly grippier chrome pole.

When the temperature is comfortable I stick just fine to the chrome. I always thought I had sweaty palms but then I realized it was a zillion degrees in my studio (that has the tiniest most pitiful air conditioner) and that's why I wasn't sticking. When it's not a hundred degrees I stick pretty well even though at times for holds I need dry hands.

My studio has 50 mm brass poles, but I bought a 45 mm chrome xpole so that I would be able to develop skills on both and not just be able to do tricks on one type of pole. Also, since the majority of studios, showcases, and competitions use 45 mm chrome poles, I wanted to have one I could practice on if I decide to enter anything.
