Hi, I recently bought a 40mm Xpert Xpole in Brass and its been 2 months now. I've only wiped it with a towel. I've noticed dark sports has appeared around it. Is that rust? What can I do to maintain and clean the pole??

Mine has that. The brown spots are just oxidation. That happens with brass. Mine, on the other hand, started developing light yellow spots and pink spots. They kinda came off with brasso, but not completely. I think it's just part of the nature of having a brass pole. I looked at the brass at a studio and they had the same marks. The oils from your hands can accelerate the process. Also, it is a good idea to periodically clean it anyways as the moisture in the air can cause this to happen.

Thank you so much. Where can I get rubbing alcohol in big bottles? Here in Singapore, it is rather hard to find one, cant seem to get one in the pharmacies either. I heard that alcohol is also used to clean make up by some makeup artists so I dont really mind getting a big bottle since I'm pretty sure I have a lot of use for it.
Jeny, you can buy a bottle of cheap plain vodka (not sure how expensive alcohol is in Singapore) and use that also.

Drug stores in the U.S. sell rubbing alcohol. I got a big bottle at Walmart, but I'm not sure who carries them in other countries. I've heard it can be much more expensive that drinking alcohol in some countries.
If alcohol is expensive in your location, I've had very similar results with plain white distilled vinegar. It just doesn't evaporate as quickly so you want to use a very lightly dampened towel and of course it's a little bit stinky. But it's super el cheapo, doesn't irritate my skin like alcohol, and makes my pole feel nice and clean and sticky just like alcohol.
A word of caution on distilled vinegar and brass. When I first noticed the spots on my pole, I came across something called "red rot," which is where the zinc gets eaten away from the brass and leaves only the soft copper behind. Vinegar can speed up the process. I also came across info that said vinegar can clean the patina off the brass, which is does, though not very easily. If you try vinegar, just be sparing with it as it could potentially lead to problems.

Hi Ladies, Thank you so much! Alcohol is rather expensive here I suppose but I do manage to get a small bottle of rubbing alcohol from a beauty store for like SGD $5. I do not think it will last very long pretty sure I'll use up all in 1 practice. I may have to get vinegar as an alternative.
you can dilute the rubbing alcohol with 50% water and it will still work. Put it in a separate spray bottle.
