My pole is getting taken down tomorrow for the first time in 3 years. It needs to be leveled. What else should I do while it is down?? It is an old top loading xpole. Thanks!!

I just clean all my poles with rubbing alcohol. I don't think it's good to use windex on your poles (especially plated or powder coated poles.) It can be pretty harsh.

I have heard of people taking them down to clean and assumed I would need to take it apart. I just have never done this and not sure what to do. I have heard people take them down and oil them too like every month but mine has never been down.

I use alcohol on mine too for every day use. I like it better than windex.
Is it a multipiece??? I've never taken my poles down to clean them, just to give my ceiling a break.

Yes. Poles are multi piece and should be tKen down once a month and cleaned. I just dint know specifics on it.
Not sure if something like this has already been done, but there should be an official guide (or sticky post) for pole maintenance! We've all spent good money for our poles and should know how to care for them properly. 🙂
alcohol huh, i will hav to try it, ive been using windex, man i love this site lol

I know alcohol is great for slicker poles like ss and chrome. I wonder if it would chip the powder coated though?? I know acitome polish remover us an all time fab for slick poles but on powder coated it removes the coating!!!

hmmm maybe i shud stick with windex then... thats what it says in my booklet. n ya i like pink poles! lol
There is NOTHING that will remove a powder coating. The process is similar to car paint. I used acetone on mine to get black scuff marks off it all the time. Luvlee...when you take it down, clean the threads and then I would suggest using a silicone grease or antiseize grease on the threads before putting it back up. Thanks! I found it and will be ordering. Bob and I were on the phone w poor Heidi for 30 minutes today. Lol!!! She told us how to clean it and everything. Then I talked to her about getting my new 50mm pole. I am so excited now.
We've found one of the best ways to clean a pole is a clothes steamer. Essentially you steam the pole and then wipe it down with a cotton cloth. I really works GREAT!!!!
I was using acetone on my chrome one. That worked really well for me. When I was at the Xpose Annapolis location, they had the itac2 pole cleaner. I really liked that stuff, im thinking about ordering some of it for my pole. At my home studio we use windex.

for daily use is it just straight rubbing alcohol? or a mixture of half alcohol/half water?
