Hey From Charleston, SC!

Hello, my name is Mallory! I've been lurking the forums here for a couple months now but this is my first time posting. I've had a chrome xpole for a couple years now but haven't dance in years because of vaulted ceilings, so I'm starting all over! Just started lessons here too, and have realized that years of no strength training and a pregnancy have made me very very weak! Hoping to get stronger again by taking Veena's lessons!

Hi-- I'm also in the Charleston area. I've been taking studio lessons for over a year, but I still don't have a pole at home. How do you like your Xpole? I'm jealous. My lessons are great, but I think I would do so much better if I could practice on my own time.

My lessons are great, but I think I would do so much better if I could practice on my own time. You definitely should invest in one! I learned when I was dancing in a club years ago and just had to get one. For as long as I've had it though, I've had grip issues. The pole I learned on was stainless steel so I thought chrome would be cake, but I slip and slide all over it now(not that I can do much of anything now, pregnancy took a toll on my my muscles!). I really want a titanium gold but am saving up still, so in the meantime I'm going to try to adjust the temperature in my poll room and try some grip aids. Maybe we can jam together sometime, we just moved here and I don't know too many people yet and it would be fun to have someone to poll with. 🙂

Welcome to the site! Yeah, having babies 💣 and taking time off will rob your strength...but it will come back!! 🥂

I've lived in this area a little less than two years, so I could stand to get to know some more people, especially females. I usually just hang out with my husband and his bandmates.

Veena-Just started your strength exercises yesterday and my shoulders kill today! It's a good hurt though. 🙂 Gonna work on the core stuff in your lessons today. Loopy- Well we're not in Charleston, we're actually in Summerville. We were thinking about having a bbq this weekend so I'll get back to you with times and such if you wanted to go. Yay for drinks and debauchery!

I'm in Goose Creek!!! Getting ready to start lessons at Goddess Dance in S'ville the first of October! I have no experience pole dancing, do not have my own pole (yet) but am excited to learn! Would be great to get in touch with both of you!!

It's hard to make friends when you're a stay at home mom and go to school online, so I figure studioveena's a good a place as any!

Hey guys! I'm in mount pleasant! I've been a little slack at poling lately because I'm nervous about the popcorn ceiling at the house I'm renting and I don't take lessons 🙁 Maybe when I move in a couple weeks I'll have a good spot to put my pole so I can use veena's lessons again

I don't think it'll do too much damage, might take some of the popcorn off but my husband's friend says there's some kind of spray that you can spray on it? We should all get together sometime!

I have the pole up and I was using it, but I can see the ceiling move when I spin (it's on spinny mode), and that makes me really nervous! Plus the pole doesn't spin as smoothly as it did when I first put it up and I don't want to mess up my pole. Maybe this is a good opportunity for me to learn on static mode! I never thought of that! 😀

I never thought of that! 😀 sounds like your pole might be too tight. If it doesn't spin fast when you try it often its over tightened.This can wreck your ceiling and bend your pole 😲 You don't need to crank the adjuster until you can't turn it any longer...that is too tight.

Thanks for the tip, I hadn't heard of that website. It would be fun to dabble in the other aerial arts. Maybe the SC veeners should get together for a private group lesson. I though about taking a class at aerial fit...but I am not much of a slow pace kinda person.....when I do yoga I prefer power yoga 🙂 have you taken any of their classes? Would love some feed back about them.....I have a set of silks and always looking for fun places to learn new stuff 🤸

I haven't been to aerial fit yet. I just got kind of curious about them when I saw their booth at a fitness expo this past spring. They actually set up one of their suspended silk things for demonstration.

O yea I forgot they were out there for that 🙂 I remember now seeing Tanya trying it out. Bugs were so bad that day I didn't want to stand/hang still for two seconds lol...I keep on working out just to avoid the bugs lol

Wow, we must have been working out together at the fitness expo. I definitely remember the bugs and Tanya in the silk hammock. I was kind of disappointed that the pole never got set up. I'm not sure what happened, maybe it was the rain. 🤔
