Help! What's wrong with my butterfly?

Hey everyone, and Veena especially I hope! 😀 I was at a pole dancing workshop this past weekend, and I was briefly shown how to do the butterfly. Of course, I have to do it, so I drag my laptop downstairs to where my pole is, log into the online lessons, and start practicing. I was lucky enough to be able to hit the hubby up for a couple of pics when I felt I could hold myself long enough. Can someone please tell me what is wrong with my butterfly, or what I might be doing wrong? It doesn't look nearly as nice as Veena's! 😢 Sarah

Nothing!!! The reason it doesn't look just like mine is a matter of flexibility. This will come in time. 🤓 The free leg is up a bit higher than mine (and there is nothing wrong with that!) If you would like to improve the pose.... working on your low back, and hip flexor flexibility will help and allow you to reach the free leg down towards the floor more. But remember pole moves don't need to look just like mine or any other dancers, take the knowledge you have and make it your own. For your first time working with it I say it looks wonderful!!!!! 🥂

I agree with Veena, there is nothing "wrong" with it. I think for this to look probably the way you want you have to be able to do the splits, that way your thighs are totally straight and just the knees are bent.

I never in a million years thought my old tired body would be able to do any of this, so I'm pleased with my progress to date. I thought maybe there was something wrong with the way I was trying to do this move, but I'm glad you think it looks fine, so I will keep up the practice on it. By the way, have you any vids of exercises I can use to "work" my lower back and hip flexors to improve my flexibility? Oh, and did I tell you how much I LOVE your lessons?!? They are the greatest things since sliced bread!!! 🥂 Sarah

I don't have any up yet, they are coming. I might suggest coming to bendy buddies chat even if I am not there we have some wonderful members who have some great advice on stretches.

You're so sweet Veena 😀 thursday night 8h east we are there doing our best Oh and the beauty in pole dance is that we all make our move in a different way because we're different.
