Help! Opinion on TG vs Brass poles?

Well, I'm thinking about getting a new pole-I currently have an xpole chrome which I slip like crazy on-go through BOTTLES of dry hands, itac, Poletice, etc. anyways, I've been thinking about getting a new pole.. I've recently made the decision to quit dancing, however the club that I worked at had what I thought was a titanium gold pole, although it may very well be brass-I'm not sure. All I know is that whereas I needed tons and tons of grip aid(multiple applications too) on my xpole chrome at home, when I went to work just a little rub of alcohol and I was good to go. Can anyone tell me which one is better so that I can make a well-informed decision on which pole to buy?

neitehr is better. It comes down to chemistry. I personally grip too much on brass, no matter the weather type. Chrome and titanium both felt the same to me. On the other hand, some girls cannot grip to brass and grip titanium better, so they are the opposite of me... Unfortunately, there is no right answer int his. Brass is very yellow, and it patina's to a dull yellow and a dull brown.

Here is my personal experience with both metal types. I have extra dry skin, sweat just a little, and have to wear lotion everyday. I am in the Midwest where it gets hot hot in summer and cold cold in winter. I have never had grip issues with brass. Ever. There is no warm up period needed for me and I do not need to wipe it as much. They use the Pole Dnacer brass poles in the studio I visit once in a while. With Titanium, it felt similar to chrome. Needed a lot more warmin up though. I had to wipe it down every single time and this weird condensation kept appearing on it causing me to slip like I was sweating but I was not. I got a clean paper towel and wiped it down and watched and near the bottom I saw condensation just appear. I do not like that finish for that reason. This is just my experience. I hope it helps.

Thank you yes it does extremely because honestly I've had my eyes set on the titanium gold because I've heard such good things about it being electronically charged and all but really the underlying issue is with my grip-I seem to have sweaty hands or maybe that's just because I tend to get nervous before attempting new tricks and therefore my palms sweat..either way I slip like crazy And keep telling myself "gosh I wish I had a pole like the one at the club I worked at-I don't know how the heck I'm sticking to that thing but I am and it would make pole progression so much more effective rather than only being able to do one trick at a time because I'm slipping off :(

Ahhhhh thank you Aerial-the pics were a big help!!! Yes the poles were def brass at the club-not shiny at all like the TG... Now all I have to do is ponder whether it's a good idea to get a brass pole that I stick very well to..even though I eventually one day would like to compete and I know they use either chrome or stainless steel..hrmm...

It is probably a broke in brass pole at your club, Hon. Broke in poles are so grippy no matter what.

I doubt a club would have an xpole, but maybe! Xpole are the only ones that do the Titanium gold finish. It was probably brass...did it leave a smell on your hands kinda metallic/penny like? Then it was brass. Sweaty hands are the worst thing to deal with I think. Brass seems to be the best for sweaty, but if its only your hands you many not grip well with the rest of your body. Brass can be slick in cold climates or if your body cools off fast. I have both the xpole brass and TG. The brass works really well for me when its summer and I'm sweating, but other wise I like my TG finish the best. If you slip from sweat on Chrome you'll still slip from sweat on TG. So, if it's just you're hands go with the finish that would work best for you body, because you'll have to deal with sweaty hands on all finishes.

try comparing the pole at work to the pics I posted and see if you can figure it out. Do they have to polish the poles ever? Brass patinas and requires polishing. Titanium does not. It just gets cleaned normally. You mioght ask where they bought them and if they know what metal it is. Are they solid 1 piece poles? If so, they are brass. X pole doesn't make poles in 1 piece without holes.

do a brass, but keep your chrome to practice on too. That will keep you able to use both.

Hmmm..thank you Veena-I'm going to take Into consideration everybody's advice because now I seem to be in a bigger predicament..I live in a hot climate so it seems practical to get a brass pole but then again I've been able to compensate with grip aids on my chrome.. And as said before I would eventually like to compete one day so maybe I will go with the titanium gold... Thank you everyone very much for your advice it has been really helpful In my decision-making process! :) :)

Oh and yes from what you described with the poles being one-piece, definitely brass but I don't like the fact that they have to be polished so I'm definitely leaning towards the TG ^_^

Maybe you should invet in some gloves. Mighty grip and tite grip both make them. MG non tack are the slidyest, tite grip is slidey and stick at once (it's ahrd to explain), and MG tack ones are sticky as heck (you can't slide down.)

Yeah I have the mighty grip tack gloves and I don't like it because I feel like I want to develop natural strength and not with the use of gloves-The only time I put those on is if I'm getting really bad blisters from all the dry hands applications lol

the tite grip ones still require you to have hand strength. I'm actually in the process of comparing gloves on a blog. The tite grip ones haave anough stick to keep you from slising, but you still need to grip, other wise you'll slide down. They have a texture and a rubbery like material.
