help getting x-pole up

how on earth do you put up an xpole that's as tall as your ceiling? i'm used to compressing my lil mynx and sliding into place, and with the dome, i don't see how it's possible to get the pole straight. when i try to get it into place, I can't get it anywhere near vertical to get the dome flat. i've got the adjuster all the way down and all the right extensions for my ceiling height. WTH am I doing wrong?
