Hello dear Veeners :)

i´m new to this site and just wanted to introduce myself :) My name is Francoise and I live in Luxembourg. I guess there arent any other people from Luxembourg or nearby? I started poling when I was 17 (i m almost 20 now). Actually i wanted to do silks but couldn t find any studios offering lessons. and as I heard that pole dance was quite similar to silks I decided to take lessons in a studio in Luxembourg city (there s is only one studio in Luxembourg for poledance). Sadly after 6 months I had to stop because it became way too expensive :/ and I wasnt improving enough because I could only practice once in a week. However pole dance was such an extraordinary experience to me that I wanted to continue and so I decided to buy a pole in November 2011...since then i m a home poler :). Like most of you here I AM TOTALLY ADDITCED TO POLE and it really changed my life. By now i m as fit i ve never been before eventhough I have been a modern dancer for over 11 years (i was never really good) this site is just so inspiring and i m so glad I found it because it really helps me especially when i m having a lack of motivation so i actually just wanted to say hello... :)

Hi Frankline! I also came to pole after having silks spark my interest. I'm sure you'll have tons of fun here, everyone is wonderful.

I did just that first day that the woman brought them to a flow jam. I spent all day trying to lift myself and wrap a foot. I asked the woman what I could do to build the muscles to lift myself, she said that pole was the thing to go for if I couldn't do silks. They offer a silks class now that isn't too far away (bout an hour) but I haven't taken it due to its cost. I recently bought an aerial hammock for my home and plan to take the silk stretch or silk fit hammock classes at my pole studio so I will know what I'm doing with them. I'm also intrigued by Lyra and that will be my next major dance/fitness purchase. I'm currently looking at construction plans to have a taller outdoor "swing set" design so I can get some silks that actually have the open ends and enough length to work with. Maybe I'll even have a lower one with a pole with room for the hammock, and maybe some monkey bars and standard playground equipment. I need to put the breaks on dance purchases for a while though, bills call. I really want to get some heels and dance shorts. I always feel a bit frumpy in a tank top and shoes and bare feet.

that sounds really great. I heard that silks is super hard...and when I went to my first poling class I couldnt hardly do a fireman spin and afterwards I was so exhausted and really couldnt believe how hard poling was and how much strength i required... so silks would have been anyway too hard for me. well at least you have a studio nearby offering classes....it s a shame that thoses classes are always so expensive. Its so awesome that you have your own hammock..really sounds like a lot of fun. wow i guess doing that outside is just amazing ..great that you have enough space for it....My room is already too small for my pole :/ yes i would also love too spent some money on good pole clothes ..mostly i m practing in underwear which sometimes feels a bit weird too xD but I actually love dancing in bare feet.excuse my english -.-

I do like bare feet for dancing, but so often the length the shoes add to legs make pole moves really wowsa. I also found that I was using the soles of my feet for some things like climbing and what not. When I did that in the studio, the teacher said I had monkey feet, and if I trained like that, I would never be able to pole in shoes because I wouldn't have my bare foot soles anymore. Your English is good :)

that s totally true..it makes your legs look badass. but I personally feel very clumsy dancing in heels. well I think climbing in monkey style is quite hard...so i d say that s a plus for you. It s so hard to look graceful in heels

Yes, I am definitely NOT a heel wearer. I am usually found in clogs (if at work) or sandals. Boots with heels are easier but still not easy. I have a back ground in ballet and jazz, so a pointed, uninhibited toe comes very naturally to me. I still want to buy a pair and try and just see what its like. But the monkey foot, it made sense, like for a climb, I was gripping with the front of my ankle/side of knee with the back leg, but instead of gripping with back of ankle with front leg as you'd do with heels, I was just putting the sole of my foot on the pole lol. I would also put my soles together and just sit like a froggy on the pole, you could never do that in heels, and its so much fun :D

well i actually like wearing heels but not for dancing. For me it s exactly the same with the pointed toes...it s almost like a reflex and heels are kind of disturbing. I think it s great that you want to give the heels a try. haha yes I see , the frog position..it s chinese pole style I think..so you can always claim that you re more into the chinese style of pole dancing ;)
