Have you ever met someone in person from SV?

I've had this conversation before. I always get the strangest looks. I have met quite a few people from this site. One of them I even roomed with in Las Vegas at Pole Expo (Krissykiki) I have also met two local girls from here that I've had over at my house to pole. Have you ever met anyone on SV and then met them in person at your house or his or her house to pole, or did you arrange a public meeting first? Maybe pole has made me too trusting... Or I'm just letting my family bother me too much about their "opinions" I always felt like I use good judgement and caution when meeting other online.. Can you tell I'm a little distressed and feel judged? Lol

I have met another SV member that I am planning to pole with sometime soon... This is why this conversation came up.. I said it in passing "oh yah, I think I found another pole friend online" The *Gasps* and lecturing started right after

I have not, but I would love to. I think you can kind of get a feel for someone by their posts. Also everyone here seems serious about their poling. If family members with objections spent as much time on the site as you they probably wouldn't be as nervous. Still, safety precautions are never really a bad idea. I think most pole studios have drop in classes. Maybe you can meet new polers there and go grab a bite afterwards. Then bring them to your house after a few meetings if you mesh well.

All true! I second guessed myself about it.. I asked myself if I have been too trusting when it comes to pole? Should pole be an exception when it comes to safety when meeting others online? No it shouldn't. I ended up be grateful that all the people I've met from here in person have all been beautiful souls and want to hear others experiences too. Good and bad ;)

SV is an interest based website, and everyone that's active here shares a serious poling interest, and that's what makes it pretty safe! And I think I'd feel great about meeting anyone in person that is on here. It's totally a different feeling from the sketchy people that hang around on the usual chat sites... When I was younger and made terribly bad choices, I wanted to meet a guy and decided that I should take a knife with me, just in case anything happened, luckily nothing did and I'm not in jail right now.....! Thinking back on it as I got older, that was a sign that I shouldn't have met up with him in the first place if I had to think twice about it like that! Maybe it's because we all have pictures and videos and we feel comfortable enough to share our fails and successes, it's hard not to feel so comfortable because SV is such a super supportive community! I don't blame your family for being concerned at all, they only care about your safety and there's some seriously strange odd people on the other side of the internet, lmao. That might be the kind of things they were imagining. But I think good judgement always goes a long way, and you'll always make the right decision when it comes to meeting up. I hope you were talking about meeee, cause I miss poling with you!!!!!! (;

No, of course not Destiny!! You know where I lives already hahaha! I met another SV member and I said it in passing that I was thinking of meeting another friend in person from here.. And then it was a whole lecture. They didn't realize that this won't be my first time meeting someone online but I wanted to see if others have experienced this too and what's everyone's take on it :)

I have! I went to Iceland last April- my furthest "vacation," and my first time out of North America. I met Eva there. She isn't on here as much anymore, but, we had a pretty good time. She picked me up from my hotel, and we went to her pole studio for a bit. She was a bit shy (which, I noticed, most Icelanders can be), but she's an awesome dancer! I was in total awe! I'd love to travel around Canada and meet some more Veeners... I haven't seen anything past Manitoba, so I'd love to learn more about the provinces past that!

I have met people from the old S Factor forum and from here. If you have ever gone to any pole event it is inevitable.

I am less weary meeting pole peeps than I am people from other forums. It also depends on how active they are and how well I feel I know them. Being friends on FB helps as well as mutual friends. If it was someone who just came here and messaged me and wanted to meet my red flags would go up. On a side note, David Owen and Junglecat were basically stalked when they performed in Columbus a few years back. At that time they were both active on this forum and that was the onely reason we knew them. Also jams used to be planned at studios (or when a snow storm hit someones house) and people would come from all over. I kinda miss those days....

Yep, only one so far but I'm glad I did because she's such a nice person. I was travelling and she reached out to me to meet (in a public place). We got along so well that I wish we would have had more time to hang out. Unless I got an uneasy feeling, I probably wouldn't hesitate to meet up with an veener.

KrissyKiki- Oh, you Canadians! So irresistible hahaha I've had nothing but great experiences from meeting members in person! I hope to meet even more someday, especially all you ladies from England and Australia! Although we don't have a lot of members from new orleans, la, i'm sure more will pop up in the future! I was browsing around yesterday and thought to myself, how lucky am I to be apart of a website that has so many beautiful women with raw talent that make the CHOICE to share their progress with us! i scanned the newsfeed and 5 members in a row were all from different countries. blows me away. i love it!

I have yet to meet anyone in person from he site would love to since I know absolutely no one here in Georgia. The few ppl I have met in my neighborhood all look at me crazy cause I always talk about pole fitness and how they should try it lol so I guess I'm the weird neighbor now. But I think it would be cool to meet someone from here because you would already know you have one thing in common.

Soooo it's completely normal to go onto dating websites to meet potential spouses, but it's not acceptable to find friends with a very niche passion? Ok. Not to sound harsh against your family but that train of thought is so strange to me. As a PC gamer I've met gamers from all over the country. For the League of Legends world semi-finals this year, I flew out a friend who I've never even met before. It was awesome. I meet people from the internet all the time. I have never, not once, in my 7 years of meeting people from the internet, had a negative experience. Be careful (duh) make sure you like the person (duh) meet in a public place (duh) and almost nothing can go wrong.

I got to meet a few Veeners in person. Overall, super people! I don't know if I'd room with someone I didn't know, even if they were from SV, but that's because I'm picky and weird to begin with. Of the girls I have met, the majority I would absolutely love to hang out with again! If you have a chance to do a meet up whether it's coffee, a pole jam, or anything else, I'd totally go for it!!!

CapFeb- YEP! That's what I said. These are the people in my family that complain about how they wish they would have chose their friends more wisely when they were younger and now its too late to find "true friends" it's a logical fallacy in my opinion... Instead of crying about it SOLVE the problem. Venture out and meet people. Don't judge me because I seek people who are interested in pole, and I happen to have to use the internet to find pole enthusiast... As if we know when we are in 2nd grade, "Hey Cassie, UM i am going to fall in love with pole dancing when I am 20 years old. Will you promise to still by my friend then and join me?" as if... "so this is how it works...You pick a human, and decide, oh i like this one.. and you just do stuff with it... " i read that earlier actually, it was a mime floating around.. haha!

Honestly, the people complaining about being "too old to find new friends" should meet my Mum. I'm making new friends at the age of 27, SHE is making new friends at the age of 60! Friends are created through common interests most of the time (it gives you a direct and easy connection), so making friends through Pole is pretty logical. You should tell these people to get out there and make some friends, too! Also I would love to be able to travel more and meet so many of you people! Stupid money!
