Hair Advice!! PLEASE.

I just bleached my hair, it was a dark brown. My roots went white blonde, but some of it's that brassy/bright orange color. I've googled and searched and searched and just don't know what to do. This site seemed quite reliable. And my question is would it be too much to dye over it dark brown. I have that John Freida foam Hair dye in the box? I just want to dye this as soon as possible. It looks absolutely AWFUL! But I'm afraid if it will be too much on my hair? Or is it going to fall out if I dye it again within 24 hours? Really would appreciate some input! Thankyouuu!! :)

I myself have been through this, take a breath it's not that bad. Your hair won't fall out if you bleach it again although there is a very good chance of it breaking off because it will dry it out. Either way, do not double process it (bleach it twice) You can put hair dye over it but the hair is now very porous and will soak up the hair dye quickly, so you may only want to only leave it on for 5-10 minutes, and it will come out way darker than what's on the box (although it will lighten). You can also take an extra step and get a protein filler from a beauty supply store and add that to your dye, it will help the color adhere. When you're done deep condition, this will lift the color slightly (brown dye will look almost black when putting it on bleached hair). If you want to stick with blonde your only safe option at this point is to suck it up and go to a pro. I went to the Paul Mitchell school here in Tampa and they fixed mine beautifully for $40, and they're supervised so youre safe as far as that goes (beauty schools love fixing hair disasters lol). As far as dying it brown if you go to a pro they will first put the red tones back in your hair before the brown (hair naturally has these tones) and there is the danger of your hair turning bluish without adding them back, but I have never had that problem. I am a hair stylist and my advice is to see a professional. If you just put brown over it it might not turn out even. It's hard to give advice since I can't see your hair but usually hair has to be "filled in" first with a red base to prevent the brown color from not taking to the hair and also helps the brown not to fade so quickly .

Thankyou (: I was going to try and just dye over it. But right on the box it does say don't dye if it's two shades lighter or darker than what your hair currently is. And not to do it if it was just recently bleached. So I'm not sure what to do. I'd rather not go anywhere because I'm so embarassed, Haha. But I really cannot keep my hair like this. What would happen if I just put the dark dye in either way? It will just go darker? Not even more orange or anything?

It really depends on the color you have. It won't go more orange but it might look muddy and green-ish on the roots because the red pigments are missing. So if you have to do it yourself get a brown with some red in it. I fix a lot of DIY colors at the salon and there is no need to be embarrassed , we see this happen soooo often :)

Trust me when I say you have no reason to be embarrassed about getting it done professionally. Trust me when I say your hair disaster is not a disaster compared to some of what I've seen LOL. Second of all, anything else you do to your hair at home risks it even further. Would you rather have the hair rescued once and for all or have broken off, uneven colored hair that you have to keep using box dye after box dye? When your hair is ten funky colors and breaking off in clumps, that's a lot more embarrassing than going to a studio to get the color corrected. They can use a gentle but rich professional Demi-permanent dye with no ammonia or peroxide that won't destroy your hair but will actually make it healthier. It's the quickest and easiest way to move forward from bad color.

I bought this stuff called colorfix that's suppose to even out the color so you can dye it. I put it on, it's still orangey but it's a lot lighter than what it was and did make it a bit more evened out. It's more my roots that are white blonde and the rest is like a light orangenow. The John Freida dye I got is like a dark chocolate brown. I havent done it yet. I don't really at the moment have the money to go get it fixed so I'm hoping this will suffice, I just worry of it going back completely orange Haha.

It might get pretty dark, but The good news is that it can't turn completely orange. Good luck and let us know how it turned out.

Well it looks a TON better. It's like a light brown now, some of the blonde stayed. But it made it looklike some natural highlights. :) Thanks for all the help!

Great. Don't wash it for at least 24 hours now. If the color fades quickly get a Demi-permanent color to freshn it up. And remember to condition your hair :)
