grip problems??

Not sure if this fits in pole moves but does anyone have trouble with certain moves gripping the pole? I have a 50 mm xpole and I can't grip from things like split grip and the grip you use for pencil. But now if I use a smaller pole, I am awesome at it. I was at my grandma's nursing home and there are these poles things outside and I could do my handspring like a pro lol I frustrates me. I have mighty grip but it don't work too well so I am going to try Dry Hands instead.
