Greetings from VA

Hello all, I am a complete newbie to poling. In fact, I don't have a pole yet. I asked my boyfriend for one for christmas. If him and santa don't make that happen I will definitely buy one my own. Since I have been a good girl this year 🙄 I've been looking at the 55cm X pole...is that a good one for a beginner? I'm looking to drop about 20-30 pounds and have been trying to do with no good results. I love to dance and think poling is just so absolutely beautiful! I can't wait to get started and looking to build up a good buddy system to give advice and moral support. Sincerely, Chrissy05

Welcome Chrissy! Poling is a fantastic way to lose weight and get in shape! Hope santa brings you a pole and the 50mm pole is the standard size in most clubs and studios.

welcome!!!!! be sure to stop into chat on fridays to meet some of the members, and definitely get veena's lessons once you start poling 🙂 i hope you get your pole soon!

Hey Chrissy! I'm a VA girl as well! I think you'll find that pole dancing is a great way to get/stay in shape. I have been an been pretty into fitness since my mid 20's but I'm in the best shape of my life, even after two kids! Are you taking classes anywhere or are you going to use the lovely Veena? I teach but this site seems to be a pretty amazing learn at your own pace and have fun community!

Thank you guys for making me feel so welcomed! I can't wait to get started and hopefully I won't have to wait too long 🙂 Desha where do you teach? I live in the norfolk/chesapeake/va beach area. You anywhere around there? I was planning on using Veena but to get some hands on, face to face help would be completely great. The only place I know of in this area is StudioRio Thanks again! Hey Chrissy I'm from Charlottesville and teach at E-Fit Dance @Shergold Studio. So definitely a trek for you! I know Esteem Fitness is in VA Beach. So you could possibly try there! If you are interested we are hosting "Cirque de C'ville" on January 30th. We'll have workshops with Jessalynn Medairy, Karol Helms, Takeila Fox, and Erica Shergold. Then that night the pole ladies will do performances along with some of our local "E-Fit Femme Fatales" Let me know if you are interested I'll give you more info. Good luck finding a home base but we can keep in touch here! (my name is really sam!)

Welcome!! I live in Woodbridge, Va. Poling will definitely help with your weightloss goal. I thought I was in pretty good shape until I started poling. It's a great workout. Have fun with it!
