Got the Basic Invert. Now what?

Macy started this discussion ·

Hi everyone, So I temporarily quit poling for two weeks; then last night I had a dream that I went back to my old pole class and the price went up and the students were so advanced that they went on tour with Pantera. Since I consider that a sign from Veena, goddess of the pole, I'm ready to get my groove back. Before I went on pole-cation, I was doing almost all of the spins and even started working on doing pole sits. However, I'm kinda stumped. I'm doing the basic invert on both sides, and that makes me happy! Now that I can do it, what next? I've got standard 8 ft ceilings if that makes a difference. What did you work on after you got the basic invert? I'm also still trying to figure out how to position my body so that my face is toward the pole instead of in front of it. I can hold on and let one leg or the other go and then slowly slide down, but it's not always pretty. I've tried moving into a handstand but I crumple on the floor and my cat runs away. Also, what did you do to build up your shoulder strength for handstands? Please don't make me post a video; my cat already thinks I'm nuts trying to do inverts in the house! All help is appreciated!
