amberpoledancer - I would think it would be easier! I have a 50mm chrome & I can handspring (cartwheel & TG) on it.... I went to the local park recently and tried on a pole on the kids playground (it was MUCH smaller, maybe 40 mm?) and I nearly flipped myself into the pole because I was used to working harder on a 50! It was SOOO much easier, almost completely effortless. I was startled but happy haha, I think I am going to purchase a smaller pole now!

@PilatesPoleKat: How tall are you please? And would you say you have average hands? I am 5'8" and have long fingers. When I grip a 50mm object, there is roughly a half inch gap between in thumb and index fingers. I have only been poling for a month, but want to buy one soon. Thanks
Check out my album comparing a 50, 45 and 38. It compare them to my hands as well.
@katfan ~ I am 5'2" ...my index finger and thumb have about a 1 inch gap :)
I enjoy my 50mm because it is easier on the leg holds... but my next pole will definitely be smaller...maybe a 40!
If you have small hands, the 40mm is perfect for you! I have a 40mm brass xpert and it's perfect! A little hard on knee and thigh holds though since it will require extra effort. But other than that, I love it!
