Under eye concealer vs lid primer? So...I have terrible circles that go into the inner corner of my eyes and upper lids. Therefore I need concealer there as well. Do I really need both? Isn't the concealer just as good of a primer?

you can... but concealer is usually thicker and creases more easily.
those newer facial highlighting pens can also do a good job of concealing darkness, and their consistency is pretty nice. mary kay has a really good one, and i've also used neutrogena's, which is ok, but not as nice as the mary kay one. the REALLY nice thing about these IMO is that they are applied with their own self-contained little brush...
Yes Amy is right, concealer is thicker than eye primer, however I have a MAC creamy nude colored eyeshadow primer that could possibly work as a concealer but it is thinner and wouldn't cover quite as well. I've never tried to use it for that but I do feel that it's kind of hard to use products for a dual purpose like that because they were designed to do one or the other unless they're made to do both. But I feel like a concealer and eyeshadow primer in one would be a good idea. You're better off using two separate products, do you put your concealer on first? I actually do my foundation first and then concealer because foundation gives you some coverage and you won't have to use as much concealer which helps it not crease since it's not piled on. BENEFIT makes a concealer/eye primer its called "Stay don't stray" and its made to be used as both, I love it 😉
I'm not as familiar with the other brands...yet. I just got some new make up from SB and the consultant at Sephora suggested both. So...should I be using both on my upper lid?
Yes I would try both if they're meant to be layered, or you could try that Benefit product mentioned above, I haven't used that specific product but I have a concealer from Benefit that I really like. They also make really good eye de-puffing products if you have puffiness also, one of them works almost instantly, it's amazing!
OK..so just have to bring up that buying new make up makes me feel like a little girl when it use to be so fun playing dress up and getting my mom's old make up to play with!

Empy, I just started becoming a Sephora shopper too. OMG, in 3 weeks ive spent over $100! Granted on part of it was a birthday gift for my mom. Im also a Beauty Insider so I get coupons and get the points too! I am now addicted, and must sell all my old MK product I still have in stock to get more Sephora stuff! 😂 I havent bought new makeup in a couple of years. I have just about everything from MK but I still love to go the store and buy new makeup. I just got some bare minerals smoky eye kit - I am in love!!!
I have tried smokey eyes and they just don't look right on me. Had it done by a consultant at the store once and it didnt look any better - I think I'm so use to seeing circles all the way around my eyes that I "see it" as an exaggerationg of my circles. Though I seriously wonder if you reach a certain age and smokey eyes just doesn't work any more? I am very lucky to have nice eyes - aside from the circles - so I can do a lot with them but the smokey eyes look wrong on me. I don't want to talk about how much I've spent in the past two weeks on make up <gulp> 😲

just so you guys know- the reason why i shop exclusively at sephora is their return policy. they will take back anything, as long as they still sell it in the store-- and if you dont' have a receipt, they will give you store credit. if you dropped your compact and the entire pan of makeup fell out and broke- they will take it back. if you didn't like the color- they will take it back. if you got an eye shadow a year ago that you never really used and are just cleaning out your makeup drawer- they will take it back. 😛

I am going to try to do a tutorial for this today after I get home from work, you can totally do smoky eyes but you have to choose colors you feel doesn't accentuate your undereye circles...which most likely means probably not black and using plums or browns instead to do more of a natural smoky eye. Also using any shimmery eyeshadows tends to accentuate circles/lines/everything else we want to hide so that could make you more self conscious of the undereye circles. Color placement is key too, I sometimes just keep the darker colors on the outer corners of my eyelids which makes it still look smoky but you don't use nearly as much dark eyeshadow. I'll get one up today after work, I already have it filmed I just need to edit it.
That would be great if you can get that one up! I do tend to put the darker colors ust at the outer corner and a bit in the crease and under the eye along the line but I don't quite get it right if I try the entire lid. Interesting point about the shimmers cause i love them. So should I not use shimmery colors at all on my eyes or just not on the lids?
If you can, try to just keep the shimmery colors on your brow bone to highlight it but away from your eyelid/undereye circles as it does tend to accentuate them. I will get up the natural smokey eye tutorial asap!
