First I wanted to say I am AMAZED at everyone's responses...a lot of people responded I have never even talked to on here and that made me feel so great about how supportive everyone here is! I was afraid people would think I posted it to get attention or fish for compliments and respond negatively...so I really appreciate everyone's kindness. You all had such awesome advice for me and it made me feel a lot better to know other people on the forum have a lot of the same issues and frustrations about their skill level that I do...but I have seen a lot of you dance and everyone is fabulous! I did put my pole back up but I am taking a break from trying a lot of the moves that were causing me so much frustation, and I think I am going to just work on my spins and transitions for a little while. I joined a gym and I have been lifting weights and working on my core strength to hopefully help me with some of the moves I am having trouble with, that way I won't lose strength while I am on my little semi-hiatus from the pole. And I am always the only girl lifting at the gym surrounded by all these massive guys...I am under 5 feet tall so it's pretty funny to watch hehe πŸ™‚ Someone responded on here with something about realizing everyone has their own talents and not to beat myself up for not catching on to pole dance as quickly as other people because everyone has their own things they are good at, which is a great point. I have always beat myself up for not being like other people and I compare myself to other people a lot and I need to stop so I have been working on that too. I am trying to watch everyone's awesome videos and appreciate them instead of thinking "Why can't I do that move where she is balancing all her weight on her pinky finger! I am terrible!" lol. I need to remember everyone learns at their own pace...and I have come a LONG way from where I was when i first started. I am not as strong as a lot of people here but I am stronger than I personally have ever been, so that is something I should be proud of. I have also lost about 30 lbs in the past two years and I am nowhere near my goal weight but coming from being 30 lbs more and never exercising a day in my life to going to the gym every day, running a few miles and lifting weights is a huge improvement so I need to remind myself of that! Everyone is so great and we are all very lucky to be part of such a supportive group. I can't say I've talked to anyone here who hasn't wanted to see me succeed and even if I am having trouble with a move, if I see someone else do it I am just as proud of them as I would be for myself! So keep it up everyone...you are all totally rockin dancers and people! πŸ₯‚
