Hi, was wondering if there is a cheaters way of flattening the jade 🤔 as I am only 1 1/2 inch away from my front right splits but I don't look flat yet when in the jade. 😳 Any advice would be greatly appreciated. 🫡

rotate your leg in the hip socket so that the knee is turned, your toes are closer to your face and your heel is pointed out and away from you. also make sure you push your butt up and into the pole with your back hand! in the jade, your hips don't have to be square like they do when you are training your splits.
I'm curious about flattening the jade too and wonder sometimes if it's a strength more than a flexibility thing? I have my splits down pat...when I have something to brace against (floor, pole etc) and can keep them flat on the ground even with something under my front foot. Can I get near a flat jade? Not for love nor money 😕

sassafrass, i dont think your strength or flexibliity is an issue-- its just positioning. i jade on my right and i am about 4" off the ground in my splits on that side, but i can get a flat jade. i'm sure veena will do a lesson soon 😂
It really has nothing to do at all with being able to do the splits. Lay on the ground and pull whichever leg toward your head...if you go straight up you probably will not be able to pull it all the way. Now take that foot in your hand (right foot right hand, left foot left hand) and pull it it the side of your body aiming more for your shoulder or your elbow. THIS is the optical illusion that is the jade.

I have a "Jade" lesson Split Hip Hold...http://ver3.studioveena.com/lessons/view/2811 new one will be posted soon. One of the other key factors is the position of the torso and the method in which you enter the move. Some methods will produce a flatter jade easier than other. Not only do you need to understand the leg positioning like the others mentioned the torso and legs must be close together before extending fulling in to the split position and the torso should turn away from the pole. If you understand how to turn the body you can hold on without the aid of your arms on the back of the pole! 🥂 All of this and more is in the new lesson.

That's exactly what I do. I actually find myself better locked into the position that way than with square hips.

So, I'm not sure if I am clear on this. 🤔 My right leg is the front leg, pull my torso up more into the pole before I lower my back left leg. Once my right front leg is forward, rotate my hips into the pole to rotate my knee in while pulling my front leg, heel and upper body rotate outwards away from the pole. Is this correct. ❓ Veena, I watched your split hip hold vid which I didn't even know was there, Must have missed it when it 1st came out and I am just unclear about rotating the torso to my left or right if my right leg is my front leg. 🤔

joni1....I don't teach to rotate the leg...so I am not sure if you were asking me. 🙂 In the lesson....Your rotating the torso/chest away from the pole. Its not a huge movement at all but the slight adjustment is helpful...Did you try it yet? 😀
I haven't seen Veena's vid so I don't know exactly how she teaches it, but the way I would explain it is once you've settled into a position with your leg pulling across (right leg pulling across to your left side, if you're right leg is front), let your torso almost do a side bend to the right so it isn't straight but rather hugging around the pole. In that position, you leg should rotate in the hip so it is no longer pulling forward but rather to the side (like if you were lying on the floor on your back and lifter your leg to the side toward your head instead of to the front). I hope this didn't confuse you even more! It's hard to explain without showing... 🧿

And no I haven't tried the suggestions/lessons yet. I'm still surfing all the forums. I worked out and stretched for my splits for 1 1/2 hrs and practiced my TG mount and other tricks before I started surfing. But i will try it out tom or sat. Thanks so much for all the great advice, 🥂

I want to know if the turning the leg trick works....So let us know Joni. I don't know that it would work well for me. I have a very hard time rotating my leg in that direction with the leg overhead! External rotation is easier for me than internal. Random smurf...

Veena and Veeneers, I tried all your suggestion and although I am not yet perfectly flat, it was the flatest I have ever been. I will need to practice it more to perfect it. 🫡
