extended butterfly question

For you right handed ladies, which arm do you place lower and which leg do you hook? I thought that I do everything right handed (walk around pole clockwise) but in comparing my extended butterfly to tutorials and pictures I think I am doing it backwards :S I hook my left leg and have my right hand lower - should I be doing it the other way? Invert, right leg hook, left hand lower and push out? Thanks for your help! xx

That is how I do mine. Butterfly and Ayesha are both with right hand low. Just starting to learn the other way around. It really all just depends on which is more comfortable and secure when you are just starting.

I do opposite leg/bottom hand. The two methods I learned put the hands that way.

I do it the way you do, left leg hooked, right hand down. That's because my left outside leg hook is my stronger one, by a big margin. I can barely do a right-leg OLH, but I'm working on improving it. Then I'll work through jasmine on that side and progress to butterfly and extended BF.

I do it left hand down, right foot on the pole, or right hand down, left foot on the pole. I don't know whether it is wrong to do it the other way, but, I think it would be really difficult to do something like apprentice into extended butterfly, or butterfly into flatline Scorpio, if you do it the other way (i.e. right hand down, left foot on the pole).

I invert on my right and hook my right leg with right hand at the top

Ideally, you want to be able to do all moves proficiently on both sides. There may be a time when doing your extended butterfly on your "bad"side sets you up better for your next planned move, or works better with your direction if you are on spinny pole. No matter which side you're on, your outside foot is catch foot and outside hand is high on pole.

Always try BOTH sides, you really never know which side will feel most comfortable. Once you can do the move on the most comfortable side start working on the opposite.
