Experiences switching between 45mm and 50mm?

Hey guys, quick question as I am considering getting a second pole, is it recommended to stick to what you're already used to? I'm not getting a second one because there's anything wrong with my first one, it's just a transport issue and lack of a car. My pole is 50mm chrome. If I bought a 45mm chrome pole would I end up having difficulty using my 50mm one? Thanks 🙂

If you can have access to 2 different sizes of poles thats great! Both have their pros and cons but if you can have one of each even better. The more finishes and sizes you can work with the better. ☀️

If I could have 2 poles they would be different ones 🙂 My studio has all kinds and finishes of the X-poles (50 & 45 mm, chrome and TG) and I like that you can go back and forth, sometimes I trade poles in the middle of class 😁 It really depends on each trick, some are easier on one pole, some on the other, so it's nice to have a choice, esp. when learning new moves. In the end you'll be able to do any move on any pole 👍 In general, 45 mm are easier to grip with the hands, while 50 mm is easier to grip with the rest of your body (because of larger contact area).

I started out on a chrome 50mm and earlier this year I bought the pole pieces for a 45mm (kept the same dome and base, just got the stuff in between in the other size). The first couple times I used it I thought it was great, but the more I did, the more I found myself preferring the 50. The hand grip was a bit easier with the 45, but I couldn't do jack with my legs. I hardly had to work at gripping with my legs on the 50, but I couldn't do it at all with the 45 and I hated it. I haven't been poling very much lately, but the few times I have, I've been putting up the 50 because it's easier for me. But I'm still glad I have both. But this isn't typical - most people that I've seen have changed from a 50 to a 45 and preferred the 45. To each their own. So you may have problems with your hand grip if you got a 45 then switched back to a 50 since it's harder to grip the larger size with your hands, but everyone's different and it may not effect you at all - especially since you're used to the 50. Like everyone said - having a variety of poles is a good thing and will make you a more versatile poler overall. 😀 There's my 2 cents (if it's even worth that much 😜).

I would love both and thought about it but in the end the 45 was much harder on my legs then I thought it would be...great for my tiny hands but my legs were not loving it...so while I have 2 poles they are both 50's...now if I could only switch on of the finishes to brass 😀

I was wondering this because I have had my TG 50 for 2 years and I love it but I bought a second pole just for the experience on a chrome 45...for the last week I've used my new one...I hope I don't "lose" anything u know?

My studio has both 45mm and 50mm poles. I've used both, but I have to say I personally prefer learning new things on the 45mm. I have tiny hands so the 45 just feels right to me.
