I want to do something crazy... Im a big girl and I think I am pretty good on the pole, and I want to do an exotic club audition. I really have been doing affirmations for self acceptance, and this is something that I just really really want to do. Just to say I did it. Any advice? ( my heart is racing while typing this LOL!

What are your intentions for doing the audition? Do you intend to dance for people in a strip club, or simply audition, simply to say you got sexy on stage? Either is fine! Just being clear, for our sake and yours. Sounds like fun though ;)
firstly, thank you for responding. to answer your question... I have no idea lol. I feel if my audition goes well then maybe I would consider working there ( wherever there is) or perhaps o could just tell them my intentions upfront and just audition and carry on with my life. I just feel this need to be impulsive, and this need to show my skills ( I pole in my room for hours). I turned 25 and its almost new years, I think I'm just longing to be free. I just chose a weird way to explore this prospective freeness.
Everyone expresses their need for freedom differently! I think it's great that you feel confident about showing off your skills, and that you're confident in your body! Just be warned that money is not often made through pole dancing, but through lap dancing, for most strip clubs. I'm sure there MUST be some out there that don't do lap dancing, but they are very few. I know that I, personally, would be uncomfortable giving lap dances (especially having heard the various horror-stories that go with them), but if you want to try, then more power to you ;) Some women LOVE stripping, love doing their jobs by dancing, and I think it's awesome that they found their niche :) Go forth, and explore! Confidence is one of the most sexy things in the world :)

I feel like I'm in a similar situation. I'm also a bigger girl who has been itching to try it out! I think it's really important to make sure you're engaging your audience. Watch how they react to different things and play off of that. Also be mindful of your expression. I think we tend to be very focused on what move we'll do next and it often shows in our faces. Last, whatever it is you're doing, SLOW IT DOWN. Sure, it's cool to see lots of tricks and pack a lot of punch into a routine, but you have to remember who your audience is - a bunch of horny men who want to get a close up look at your naughty bits! LOL. If you don't mind me asking, whereabouts are you from?
BAMBAM It's great you had the nerve to come out to us here . To perform is a feeling that can't be matched, be it singing, comedy routine, speaking, etc. But to go on stage, means that you may have issues when you are out in public. So please think carefully about decision. You could always put on a wig, do a beautiful dance and post on YouTube or here. You could save up $ and enter pole competitions , which are growing in popularity. My pole studio actually does performances at a nearby bar which is close too studio. They do a excellent show because one of the teachers has a theatre background. But this is progressive Cali. Once you are performing, you will have a hard time obtaining white collar positions. So l am asking you to look closely at your choice and be aware of consequences. But l support your choice to love yourself and be a excellent pole diva.
This is a great topic, thank you! I've considered amateur night performances myself, but so far have decided against it. Here is my two cents. I think before you decide whether you want to do an audition or amateur night, it is worth thinking carefully about why you want to do it and what you are hoping to get out of it. If your main goal is to show off your pole skills, the audience in a strip club may or may not really appreciate those skills. If your desire is really to perform and show off the results of all your hard work, you might consider seeking out other types of performance opportunities in the pole community, such as competitions or showcases, as the audience at these types of events may be more likely to appreciate the technical and artistic aspects of your performance. And of course you can always post videos on here, YouTube, etc.. As Honolulusushi53412 noted, there can be consequences to public performances. Personally, I have a professional job in a male dominated field, and I do perform, but so far I've stuck to studio showcases and similar events because I feel like those are safer performance spaces for me both professionally and personally. Depending on where you live, your particular professional situation, and how brave you are this may or may not be a concern for you. There are ways to disguise your appearance, and you can go to another city to find a club, but there is always some risk you'll be recognized, and/or photographed. Also, you may want to consider how you might handle a negative response from your audience. I'm not a small woman by any stretch of the imagination, and while I feel accepted within the pole community, people outside the pole community are sometimes judgmental and even mean about bigger women pole dancing. I do *not* think other people's ignorance should stop you from doing what you want to do, but it can sometimes be useful to think about how you are going to respond to negativity in advance, so that you have a plan for dealing with it if it does occur.
