I learned in a class on social media and mediated bodies that "looking" is a practice, and our perceptions are conceived around where we choose to focus our gaze. A child doesn't understand what something means to have a stigma, and no matter what you choose to do in our lives, there will always be someone who opposes what you do. The only answer is to educate, and keep it moving, continue doing what you enjoy doing, as long as it's not detrimental to you or others around you...what's the problem. Latoya....no...just no. By the time that 4 year old is an adult old enough to decide what she wants to do with the skills she has been given, she's gonna be a beast, and probably will have cross disciplined in other things that aid in pole dancing, maybe she will be strong enough to compete on an Olympic team, maybe she will have the privilege to perform in a prestigious performance company....but anywho, we all know that if maybe we had the opportunity to learn these skills at such an early age we would be even better people today. But ultimately what I'm trying to say, is more people are starting to realized there is no reason to discriminate between a gymnastic horizontal pole and a vertical pole. There will always be someone with something stupid to say, direct your gaze at the positive. if you continue to look for oppositions on pole dancing it will only continue to be a let down, dont add fuel to it, let it die surround yourself with like-minded individuals.
