Awwh! What did you name it? (Or is it a secret?) I don't have a pole yet but I can see how you might want to name it - committed relationship and all...

She is Nadia. π

I haven't got a pole but it seems likely that I would name it if I had one:) π₯ I like to name things and my workmate thinks I'm a weirdo for naming my car but that's pretty common...right?? π€

who hasnt named their car?!? i dont think i have a close enough relationship with my pole to name her yet. we've only been together a couple weeks. lol
who hasnt named their car?!? i dont think i have a close enough relationship with my pole to name her yet. we've only been together a couple weeks. lol Yep, my car has a name. Her name is Eleanor (gone in 60 sec style). If I had a pole, id name her. That way if I talked to someone and then said I was going to play w/her, the would get confused and think I switched teams! π

I don't care what other people think of my sanity, I've worked with the mentally ill before so I know I've got at least 50 cards out of the bunch. I named my car Ethan, my houseplant Billy and well I hadn't thought name my pole even though I do tend to personify it as a dance partner (a cold one that needs warming up to, ha) π And Polergirl, nifty name choice for your pole as that happens to be my real name! π§Ώ

I like it! Somehow seems appropriate - graceful? sophisticated? I'm not sure about naming my pole tho... I think I'll need to think of it as a tool more than anything. I will however likely come up with a code name for it π

My first pole is a 50mm titanium silver, it didn't have a name. I then got my second pole which was a 45mm gold pole. When she (shes and she) was first erected she looked so beautiful to me, so slender and golden and I thought she looked like Aurora. So she's now Aurora, my golden precious.

Funny thing, I never thought about naming my pole! Also, if I was to do so (and I think I might) I would actually choose a male name. It's a common thing in the studio around here, even though I don't go anymore, that we explain the pole thus: The Pole is the perfect dance partner. Always ready, always erect and never critical of what you're doing! π So, I always thought of my pole as more masculine, like a dance partner. I've also heard that cars are supposed to be named female, because it's usually guys naming them, and cars are like having a relationship with women. Expensive, sometimes bitchy, but they get you there in the end (I just realized how that sounds...sorry π ). So I always liked how my friend did it; her first car was named Steve. He was a good car, but they moved so they had to sell him. I don't see him around town anymore π Er, if this post seems to ramble, I'm sorry...I've had insomnia of late, and running on next to no sleep in the past few days. Anyways, perhaps I'll let you guys know if/what I name my pole!
I knew I needed a name for my pole so I just kept asking the X-pole (50mm Chrome) "What is your name?" I know, I'm a total psycho. But this is the way I have always named all my pets, even those who obviously have never been named before. I just ask their name and wait until the name emerges organically and spontaneously. After about a week the name that came to me was Francine. I think it fits. Somewhat regal, perhaps reserved, not particularly sexy by any means, but full of activity beneath the lovely surface. Some other people don't like that Francine is my X-pole's name, and they feel I should have chosen something sexier, manlier, or more dominating. But Francine suits me just fine and we have a fine relationship when she's not being slippery. Oops! π³
Thanks Roxy for posting that! That was in StudioVeena's paleo-David times so I didn't realise there was a discussion thread about it! I loved reading the things going through people's heads to come up with names for their poles. I was interested in your permanent stage name too... I tried really hard but just couldn't come up with one at all, so I perform under the name "David." LOL, if that isn't the flaming abyss where creativity was plunged.
