OK, so I just saw a pole move that I've never seen before! I tried it and thought I was going to break my ankle from the hold so I didn't get it. Does anyone know how to do the move at 2:37 from Leigh Ann's "Little Red Corvette" from pole show L.A. on youtube? It looks easy but...give it a try! It's so cool. 😎 I gotta learn this one.

I don't know what it's called or how to do it, but I've seen the move in some Chinese pole videos - I know Remi Martin did it in at least one video of his I've seen. (or at least something extremely similar) At first I thought she was doing it one way but then watched it again and I was wrong... It's strange, she's gripping the pole with the foot of one leg and the knee of the other leg, but the free foot is stuck through the free knee on the other leg... and yes, it does look painful. So Is gots nothin'. 🙄 Hopefully someone else has some better input on this... 😕

Yeah, it's like you're doing a pole climb with the back leg (let's say left leg) and you stick your right leg around the pole and behind the left knee before you hook the left foot behind the pole. I can get my legs in that position but to attempt to lay back kills my left foot/ankle. I wonder how much weight is on the top knee versus the hooked foot.

Funny, I saw that video on saturday and THAT exact move stuck with me, I need it! LOL, I will try it as soon as I'm cleared to climb (I'm injured at the moment) and let you guys know if I figured out or not. it looks awesome.

I think that was my favorite performance of the night, she did great. Thats a wicked cool move. Just be very careful if you have any knee problems, this one would be killer on the poor knee joints!! 👽 👽

And 1.42 is like a shoulder dismount into shoulder splits, which would KILL the contact points, but gets a really nice split going. Is 2.03 an elbow grip extended butterfly? Hot! And .....that layback at 2.35... yes, yes, indeed... I do need that. It looks so contorted. 3.55: what is that?! Must have that too.
The boots she's wearing MUST be a factor!/tilts head woah. 😂
Maybe Sapphire can lend some insight to this? I cannot view videos here at work, but is that the one where she looks like she is sitting Indian style on the floor but is on the pole? That is the only move that I have seen Remi do that I think she did.
Yes Chemmie I believe it's that move - What a memory you've got to be able to picture that! I also loved this performance. It was very creative...very artistic! Let me preface this by saying that I personally feel this is a very risky if not dangerous move! The first time I flipped my legs into it and thought...oh cool, this isn't bad...and went to lay back if I hadn't caught myself I quite possibly would have broken my ankle on the hooked foot! The pressure on that foot is incredible! Im not so certain that the boots are the "key" but they definitely make a big difference as the "key" is the grip of the hooked foot...not sure it's possible to grip without the boots or some shoes...but of course we have MANY people proving the impossible to be possible so I'm certain it's just me. I definitley advise practicing with boots first time. Lets call the hooked knee the INSIDE leg and the hooke foot the OUTSIDE leg. Climb > Sit with legs crossed in front, wrapping outside leg over the top of the inside leg. The trick is to cross them below the knees...the outside leg crosses very low over the bottom of the inside leg...just about right at the ankle. Your inside knee is higher than the outside knee. Move your torso back and away from the pole then: I highly recommend walking your hands down the pole until your inside hand is supporting you below just as you would when first learning a layback or a plank. As I said...the pressure on the outside ankle is incredible! From the still it's obvious she has a sweet spot for that move just like we all have to find our sweet spot for knee hold. Just depending on the leg length/width/shape the leg position could be more open or closed. Maybe this would be one to try leaning back on a chair like veena teaches knee hold, but just laying back on it to get the legs in position, or right off the ground over a mat.

I DID IT! (with thigh-high boots on, but I did it!) I just uploaded a pic to my profile pics... I didn't quite have time to lay back all the way (10 second timer, you know). I had more problems with spinning when I laid back all the way than I did with the pain. I found I had more problems with the pain from the eyelets in my boots pressing into my ankle, lol. I also slid my lower ankle a bit more to the side so that the very bottom of my shin was more against the pole than the ankle joint was, if that makes sense... took some of the pressure of it. I can't wait to try this when I get my leg grip back in full swing again 🙂

no way! I can't believe some of you are getting this move so quickly! I tried it a million times after I saw it and thought the pain on my hooked foot/ankle was going to snap the damn thing in two! hmm...haven't tried it in boots yet. let's see.....
Me and my instructor were trying this last night but couldn't work it out at all! Will keep trying tho 😀
One point is you have to approach this like you did when you first did laybacks...some of us are so use to laybacks we think we are just going to release and lay back into the move. It was interesting to see that you have to find the right grip to avoid sliding down the pole before you extended all the way back. In fact the slip seemed worse than I recall from first learning the CKR or the CAR. And you can't just fall back into it or you may hurt yourself if you haven't got your ankles/legs in the best position. I found I had to twist my hooked foot more in order to avoid the pain....also I was depending on just "hanging" from that hooked foot but I needed to really "engage" the ankle. Makes total sense of course but you may not think about it when you first do it. I just realized...I forgot to link the slide show I made for this the other day when I posted my picture...it may help. There is a series of pics and then the slide show putting them together. Walk your hands down the pole to lower yourself down and do the bracket hold beneath you until you feel ready to let go. oh yeah, i forgot to say thanks to empy! Your sequence photos somehow seemed to help. I think it got my brain wrapped around leaning slightly to one side when beginning to lay back. Plus, it was a new trick to all the girls and the instructor at my pole class. New moves rock!

We have been calling it "The Remi" because Remi Martin does it on his Chinese Pole shows. 🙂
Glad to help Carrie. Kudos to you sharing something new with your instructor! I like "Remi" as it sounds unique...but I prefer to use more descriptive names in class but I can't imagine one for this layback!

Empy - if you want something more descriptive then maybe call it the Remi layback or the Remi release? 🤔 (looks more like a "release" than a "layback" to me, but that's just my opinion) Yeah there was an unofficial vote on Day's Facebook pics of this move and Remi was the winner... I just thought it was funny, we had this huge string of comments trailing under the pic 😂 Oh, I've pretty much gotten over the pain aspect of this move on the lower ankle - I still can't grip enough to stay up there every single try, though. But it's progress! I want to do it at the pole jams at USPDF and NOT have to take my boots!
