Decisions, decisions...

So I'm going off to college in a little over a week..I've been taking pole classes all summer and am getting good and I definitely want to keep progressing. However, I will not have the time to take classes during college and if I do, they will cost much more than the one's I'm taking now since the district I'm living in is more expensive. So, my parents have agreed to let me buy a pole that I can use when I come back on the weekends yay! So now the delema - I have no idea which pole to buy...well not no idea... I know I want an X-Pole. I have been researching (or attempting to) around this website and the internet in general to find out if I should buy chrome or titanium, 50 mm or 45 etc. I tried to ask the instructors where I take my lessons what the standard poles are and the difference between chrome and titanium since I have heard many opposing reviews on both. These are my concerns... 1. I have sweaty hands, so I would like to have a pole that is a little more grippy but opinions seem to differ on this subject...help? 2. I heard titanium is better material (hence why it costs more) but I really would like to avoid buying a gold pole, I prefer standard silver...but I might just have to settle 🙁 3. Is 50 mm the standard? It seems like it would be..for those of you who have 50 mm how do you like it? 4. Can the X-Pole go on carpet, and will it be just as sturdy on carpet? (I remember reading that Veena says hers is on carpet but I don't know if she has a thinner carpeting than I do or if the thickness of the carpet even matters). 5. Has anyone had any problems removing the X-Pole? More importantly, does it leave marks on your ceiling? Because my parents said that whatever pole I buy it MUST be removable and not damaging to our house. Let the responses commense! Thanks for all the help!

Yay for a pole! now on to the few questions I can answer 1. I have sweaty hands but got used to dancing with it and have no problem on chrome now, intitially it was a bit of a trick though. 2. I hear titanium is grippyer 3. 50 is standard 4. My x-pole is on carpet no problem. You tighten it when it is up so all it will do is smoosh down the carpet till you take it down and vacuum. 5. I don't have problems taking it down. My pieces are stuck so I'm getting the better tool (shock method didn't work). No permenent marks. My ceiling gets rings from the rubber but I think thats because of either the smoker who lived here before or the wierd paint because when it gets steamy from the dryer the walls "cry" this orange color that matches the rings so no marks from the pole. have fun with whatever you decide to get

I have both a 50mm Chrome & a 45mm Titanium Gold. I love them both! TG is grippier but is best on spin mode. It also hurts my hands more than the Chrome but that will pass as I adjust to it (I just got my TG a few days ago). As far as the width goes, the 45mm is awesome in the fact that I can wrap my hands almost completely around the pole.... but it also leaves less pole space to grip on your thighs and such, but i havent found that to be a big problem. 45mm is best for petite girls though so if you are on the bigger/taller side you would probably be best with 50mm. *shrug* When in doubt just go for the basic 50mm Chrome. Its a great pole. You really cant go wrong with it. I have my pole on Carpet, and it is great. No problems there.

What if I'm tall but I'm underweight? 45 mm or 50? (I think I might just have to measure the pole I've been using at the classes lol)

I'm average height (5'5"--but that also means I'm tall for a Chinese gal!) but underweight and I completely prefer the 50mm. I've tried the 45mm brass at different studios, but it always seems too tiny for me. My hands are relatively small but I have long fingers and when I'm on the 45mm, it doesn't feel like I can use the strength in my hands in a significant way. I would have to agree with Violet and say that a chrome 50mm Xpole is something you really can't go wrong with.
