Hello! I will soon be purchasing an X-Pole and I want to know (truthfully) has anyone seen damage on either their ceiling or floor from their pole? I have a smooth ceiling (not popcorn) and hard wood floors. I rent my apartment so I want to be sure installing a pole in my house (my dream!!) will not cause damage.

I did bruise the drywall on my ceiling by overtightening my pole - I now aim to tighten only to the point at which the pole won't move (NOT to where it cannot be tightened any more!) With proper installation, I've seen no damage to either the ceiling or hardwood floors.
When installed PROPERLY it will not damage ceilings or floors. :) Overtightening can cause damage to the ceiling, and so can not being properly located under a joist.
As digit said, I damaged the drywall on my ceiling because I over tightened my pole the first time I put it up. However, I have it in the same spot, properly adjusted and have seen no further issues. Just be sure you follow directions and don't over-tighten it. As for the floor, I have carpet (UGLY carpet lol) so haven't had any issues with that.
My x pole left a slight ring on my smooth ceiling. Not an indent or anything. It can easily be painted over. The base left an indented ring in my vinyl floor, but vinyl is soft. I took it down and the ring has since disappeared.
Mine left a ring on the ceiling as well, but a magic eraser took it right out.
My xpert does damage to the ceiling which is slightly structured (drywall I guess). I've got an old x-pole as well and the rubber on the edge of the domes have different thickness. Whether that's because they are different pole-types or just due to production spread, I don't know. However, on the dome with thinnest rubber, both the rubber ring and the thing in the middle which goes out a bit damage my ceilings. It helps to put something soft over the part that goes out, but there's nothing to do about the ring. My pole isn't overtightened. Regarding the one with the ticker rubber, it's just the ring which seems to cause trouble.
Always make sure to center the pole under a beam, joist, or solid part of the ceiling in order to avoid any ceiling material damage (such as drywall cracking). Ceilings come in all different types of materials from concrete to wood to drywall and popcorn, to false/drop ceilings- so its always a good idea to be aware of what your ceiling is made of. If there is any dirt or dust on that silicon ring around the dome it can leave a dirt mark on the ceiling- easily wiped off with magic eraser or painted over. Popcorn ceiling texture can be bought at home depot and sprayed onto the ceiling if needed. It is also crucial not to over tighten your pole- because obviously too much pressure can cause possible cracks in drywall, or the like. Overtightening can cause other problems within the poles as well. I've never had any type of damage with X-Poles in 8 years of renting apartments and using them in a ton of different locations- from metal beams, popcorn, drywall, wood, etc. And at that time I was over tightening my pole a lot because I didn't know any better. So it really takes a lot of pressure, or just not knowing how or where to set up your pole for any damage to occur. Just be aware and mindful! Thanks so much.
