So today was the first time I actaully fell off the pole. I usually have a couple pillows down on the floor when trying out a new move but this didn't cushion the fall very well. Any suggestions on where I can get a crash mat that ships to the US?

if you can't afford a crash mat, you could always use your sofa's cushions and couch pillows! 🙂

Oh, nice looking mats Alena! Looks like they would be easy to keep clean, looks like you could just wipe them off. 🥂
They are made with high quality vinyl, which is easily kept clean with an antibacterial soap and water...and are very long lasting! Foam is high density, which will not bottom out when you stand or fall on it! 😉 All products are Made in Canada, ensuring all content follows national standards! There are quite a few products made in China, which may contain content that is not approved by US or Cdn federal control. 3 different foams I have researched contain contaminants not safe as per our standards!

Nice! I didn't know your mats had come out, Alena! HARDCORE. Five inches of gloriousness appeals to me. I think perhaps I could fall a great distance with little concern onto that! .... Pink also appeals. and 200$ with shipping. ... I thank jesus for capitalism to give me so many glorious choices.

Does anyone know exactly how to order Alena's crash mat? I've been trying for near a week now to figure it out. I went to her main site, and it doesn't even discuss the mats. So I decided to use the 'contact us' feature on her webpage, and heard nothing back. I tried again, and got nothing. I feel like I have to be doing something wrong and there's a pretty little webpage somewhere just waiting for me to order from it. And maybe Alena is just real busy. I know she has something big going on in September. If anyone has had luck ordering her crash mat, could you please let me know how you ordered it? Thanks!

Try giving her a call. She's organizing a big pole event that's happening this week and it's been a bit hard to get a hold of her online lately.
I had the same problem getting ahold of Alena (she had an event at the time, too), but she WILL get back to you. When she does, service is really good. I got the "Junkies" mat and it was totally worth it. You can see it in my cross-knee release pic which I wouldn't have been able to do without it. The first time I finally nailed this move, I was so sweaty that I held it ever so briefly and then, slid at warp speed to the ground. I would've been in REALLY bad shape without it. Safety first! Cannot recommend it too highly.

I ordered the Junkie mat too! She said it's being shipped some time today, so it should be here in a week or so. I'll let everyone know how I find it!
I have a full size 3 inch thick memory foam mattress that I cannot sleep on anymore because it aggravates my upper back. (My mom has one too and had to stop sleeping on hers because of similar back problems...) ANYWAAAAY... I was thinking that I could cut it up into squares and stack them and make a nice crash mat for myself... What do you guys think? Any memory foam mattress users out there? good for crashing down onto? or no?

Ooh, if I had a foam mattress to use, I'd cut it in half and then cut a slit from one side to the centre on each and then just slide the pole into the slit until it sits right then do the same with the other on top... maybe cover it so it doesn't get sweaty? I've thought about buying a crash mat, but my couch cushions are thick and four fit around my pole like a treat. If I want them to stay together, I'd probably sticky tape them for that pole session 😛 I spend far too much on lessons and workshops and workout gear as it is.

I've purchased from exoticdancepoles - got a black crash mat - it's $150 and it really is great - it's not 5 inches, which I like bc I can still walk comfortably - but is very nice cushion - from personal experience :-p

wasn't cheap lol 245.00 plus 40.00 shipping but honestly it was so well made...my friend has one and I really wanted something that had some serious *pad* to it...it's like a good gymnastics pad that it was worth it. I can walk in shoes on it but I didn't really care if I couldn't *dance* per say on it becuase I really got it to save my butt or head if I fell. Very pleased with it!

I couldn't afford one of the crash mats so I just went out and bought 2 inexpensive baby crib mattresses and place one on each side of the pole when I'm practicing new advanced stuff. Works great.
